Sounds all to familiar - I took over a walk from two guys who were on light duties (they did a couple of streets of the other walk between them with the balance picked up by OT) one of them was supposed to prep my round - did they hell like you I was going out anything between 9.45 & 11. While they had left at 8.30 to 9.00. They would tell me they just didn't have the time. Took it up with the waste of space manager - no action taken apart from saying I could come in 1/2 earlier (8AM). Eventually jacked it in, those 2 f---ks + the management can find some else to take the p--s out off. Sorry but how much should you have to put up with.

I'm on a 5 hour contract too. I'm supposed to do 9.30 to 2.30 but I'm teamed with a full-timer so I have to come in at 7.45! It's a joke. On really busy days we don't book off until 3pm so I'm going way over what I'm supposed to work. I only wanted to work 20 hours a week but I'm doing more like 28. As I'm on a 3 month contract I don't feel like I'm in a position to complain  .

Thanks for reply. Like you I'm on a short term (6 month) contract and I don't want to rock the boat while I'm 'on trial'.
I don't want to work over my hours, I signed up for 25 hrs/week.
If I came in at 8:00 instead of 9:30 it would be finished by 2:30, but that's 1.5 hrs working for nothing every day that I don't want to do, while the F/T partner on the round is getting paid for the whole time. Something wrong somewhere!
I'm on 5 days of 5 hours ATM. I might ask if I can do 6 hrs 15 or whatever over 4 days instead, as then I would finish on time and get paid for all the hours I'm doing. It would help them in knowing the 2 shared rounds would get done every day without any cutting off, but they'd lose a body on the 5th day. Is this pie in the sky or is it worth asking?
No harm in asking! I am getting paid overtime for the extra hours I do. Surely they don't expect you to work for nothing??? Well it's not 'overtime' of course as it's standard rate until you go over 39 hours a week.
