Anyone Work in Priority Services?

Post by wolfman »

Hi.
Just a quick question about working in the priority service locker that I would be interested if anyone knew the answer to. I've worked in the priority locker for the past 18 years and the amount of foreign mail that we get is on the increase and has been for years. What bugs me is that most of the items are small cheap gifts from china or the usa that are worth a few dollars or so and some of the postage prices the customer have paid from some of the European countries are sometimes around the 3 or 4 euros or less. Does anybody know how we generate any revenue from this and why are cheap items from abroad given our premium service when we have to pay about £6.50 and above for this service in the uk?

Regards
James.

Thanks for the link that does explain a lot. One thing that is puzzling though in our locker we have the same confusing system where the items arrive with a special delivery tie but with a white or red label and nobody knows what should be treated as what. We knew we only treat one of these as a special delivery but we have been doing the red labels as special delivery and the white labels have gone out on the floor, which by the look of things is the opposite of every other office. This has been happening for years and nothing has been flagged. The reason for this is the items in the red labels have a dun note in them, where as the items arriving with the white labels do not. Does anybody know for sure how these items should be treated? Also if the red labels go out on the floor what is the dun note for? We cant receive the dun note without dispatching the items as it would mess up the balance?

Thanks again
James.

In our office we take the red labels on as normal and the white label items we take on as items with the dun missing but sometimes the foreign bags seem to have everything else in them as well including recorded items and normal mail

Well that makes 2 offices from the other thread doing just the white labels, us doing just the red and you doing both! Anyone doing none, then we have a full house?

We do both. They're all priority/registered items so they should all be going through SD lockers
