Revison & Repick.

Post by Harv12 »

our office is in the process of a 2nd revison. instead of sorting out the jobs that needed sorting, the union and royal mail have decided to change every job which in most of the office's opinion didn't need doing,

Anyways my question, since there has been more than 30% change this has so iv been told triggered a repick which again a good majority of the office don't want,

Has there to be a repick or can we vote against it and fill the vacant jobs by advertising them.

What you are describing in your posting is a full resign and not a revision. A full resign takes place as you have mentioned when 1/3rd of the total duties in the unit have been subjected to major change or a business driven change. Duties unaffected by change can be retained by the duty holder unless they volunteer tp place their duty in the resign pot. Duty holders who have held their post for less than 12 months can only take part if their duty has been affected and bears no resemblance to the original duty when signed for. Vacant duties totalling 5% of the duties or vacant for 6 months should then be advertised. Selection of duties will be on a seniority basis or ring fenced to cover employees covered by the Equality Act 2010. Before any resign starts the duties affected for change should be displayed and open to view giving you the opportunity to err your grievances.

When you say major change or business related change would that include them getting rid of a duty and splitting it between others in the same section for budget purposes? They are doing this in my office but saying there won't be a repick because it isn't a revision and not enough is changing despite every duty getting at least 30 mins more work outside plus added indoor work?

In relation to getting rid of a duty and splitting content over several duties I am assuming that this duty has no duty holder and has remained vacant for a considerable time and has been covered by others without having to fill with reserves or advertised as a vacant duty. This would be down to your union rep to question.
You have misread my posting on replying to the original posting that the description given was for a full resign and not a revision in relation to the amount of duties that had been severely impacted by change ( Way Forward Agreement states 33.3 % or 1/3rd of overall duties in the unit. So in your description every duty changed by 30 minutes and work content changed would be a resign but a change of only 30 minutes and not having a severe impact on the original duty may not constitute a full resign and only your union rep with the support from members if they feel that this change has an impact on their private life such as collecting school children etc. can push for a disagreement and a possible resign.

No the duty to be split has a duty holder on it so he would lose his duty, there is a vacant duty where someone took evr so he would probably get moved onto that
