Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party purge and the retirement age for manual workers

I was one of those people purged from the ballot before the election for the leadership of the Labour Party. This is despite the fact that I’m a life-long Labour supporter, have been a member of my Labour Club for over 30 years, and worked closely with the Labour Party candidate in our constituency in the run-up to the last election. I am a member of the Communications Workers Union, and therefore an affiliate member of the Party through my union. I’m an active trade unionist, having been a rep, and have paid the political levy through my union fees for something approaching 15 years.

I generally vote Labour but I can't believe Corbyn at all. Get rid of nuclear weapons, stop Trident, open the coal mines, re-nationalise the country, lower retirement age, pay student fees. That just looks like a list of what the public might want and would get the most votes.

None of those will come true in the next 10 years despite the what Corbyn promises. It sounds lovely in La La land.

P.S. that isn't a dig at you, I just feel like the country has been played in an embarrassing way.

EDIT: oh, and to keep on topic. Yes, I'd say you were ousted because your vote was one 'they' didn't want. I am not surprised they wanted to do it, just surprised they could be bothered to go through the list and send out the letters - it must have taken ages.

@OP, good blog. Anyway despite the gerrymandering of the New Labour bureaucrats, Jeremy Corbyn has won with a huge majority in all the constituent sections. We can expect a propaganda barrage from the Tories, their press, and the beaten New Labour right wing careerists against him. But it's good that people have seen through their nonsense.

Get rid of trident and the nuclear deterrent and it would pay for all that "pie in the sky" stuff

As an ex-forces guy we don't need it, its just the Tories/New Labout way of staying on the UN Security council - and look how well the UN works.

Why don't we need it - there is no possible rational situation where, hopefully we would use them, when smart weapons, and dumb bombs would do the same job for us, unless we were willing to Nuke thousands, or 100s of thousands of innocents who just happen to be within the target area.

Would anyone on here condone that. You'd hope not.
