We only prep a bit of mail as 6hrs a day translates to 4hr 30 min duty,30 min break and 15 mins each way, leaving 30 minutes to finish prep,do D2D's,redirections,pull out and load up,so really it's impossible to do much prep.Scotland1 wrote:D2D should only be prepped in if ur a 25hour contract, if ur a 30/31 hour then u prep ur own mail and d2d, with regards to ur break if ur 5 hour day u r only entitled to 25 mins I think, I may stand corrected if someone else knows better than I do, good luck

Re: D2Ds
Spoke to a union rep who said all offices should have 318s. Perhaps my office have not done them at last revision as it would be impossible to squeeze all the workload into the duty hours. My walklog just shows all the delivery points. No prep, break, accelleration times mentioned. Just a thought. Will pursue this. Thanks for all replies.

Re: D2Ds
They must have been completed at the last revision, it's part of the sign off process of the revision so unless the union rep, planner and don all signed off saying they had seen the 318 then they are somewhere probably just the dom doesn't want you to actually see them
on a side note, is the walk log in the exact identical order of your frame?

zx will not accept or believe that a whole load of offices do not do 318s anymore; it has gone and no amount of banging on will bring it back.trythat wrote:No RM don't do 318's now, but they do walk logs that have duty content and if you've had a recent revision, you should IPS time, prep time deliver time, travel time etc. For anyone who has been at RM for sometime all know what a 318 is.super-postie wrote:Spoke to the real DOM today. What a surprise. Apparently they dont do 318s any more! Laughable if you ask me. How can you be held accountable for anything if there isnt even a written record of what a particular duty involves.
Any info on 318s would be helpful.
Will also get in touch with area rep.
Ta
Also have a look at your signing in sheet, most have start and out time. and return time.
However, one can sit down with the Rep/DOM to discuss what might be the appropriate estimated time needed to complete various tasks... And this cannot not be set in stones - things vary; so a 318 will probably need to be reviewed on a yearly or two-yearly basis - that if they exist in the first place.
Moreover, the poster has already said he works 5 hours a day! So lets take away the break of 30 minutes, travel of 20 minutes (could be more), loading and collecting Specials 10 minutes. That is about 1 hour gone!
What is the delivery span? 3.30-4.30 hours. At 3.30 hours the average then this postie will barely time to do his own D2Ds. It is that simple!
Other tasks to be carried out by Part timers include, doing parcels, redirections, last bit of missorts, bagging up and at least another...

oh the 318 definately still exist in all offices whether they have been printed off or not is a different story, they use a program called duty builder that's what they are stored on, this then outputs to the rcs system which is where all your office hours budgets are worked from, where over time is recorded annual leave etc (as well as psp) the rcs system is how they control the spending in offices and it only works if each duty has a 318 in duty builderchrisj wrote:zx will not accept or believe that a whole load of offices do not do 318s anymore; it has gone and no amount of banging on will bring it back.trythat wrote:No RM don't do 318's now, but they do walk logs that have duty content and if you've had a recent revision, you should IPS time, prep time deliver time, travel time etc. For anyone who has been at RM for sometime all know what a 318 is.super-postie wrote:Spoke to the real DOM today. as for delivery spans I know for a fact of one office that still has delivery span of 2hr30 for all deliveries pt and ft, not mine and the pt to ft ratio is very high hence they gt away with very short delivery span

Re: D2Ds
You keep saying they exit and people keep telling you that they are not used or even considered as part of any revision.A few posties here including myself have believed that duty 318 exist but have been rebuffed by the managers.
You ask, the answer is it is nowhere to be found or that is not the way the duty is set up these days; you cannot keep insisting on having something that is not there. Or something that the managers are not ready or willing to dig out from the deep in the system - some of them probably will not know where to find or put together such an information. End of!
So can the poster tell us what he thinks his delivery span is?

Re: D2Ds
If an office has a delivery span of 2.30 hours then how do they make up the rest of the hours? Do all there staff actually spend that much time sorting?
Even if that is the case, they will have to be a tiny minority.
Even before the 2010, the average delivery span was somewhere around 3 hours; and that was before all the tracks and explosion in e-commerce. Where are these offices with 2.30hours delivery and duty 318s.
Can we have a poll on delivery span and 318s?

Yes it's the only office I have heard of doing it, the ratio of ft staff to pt is around 40% ft staff pt staff prep their whole duty and deliver whilst ft prep their duty and do the pis flats packets etc and also prep duty for a couple of 16 hour pt staff who do very little indoor work on a 4 hour shift
As for where are the offices with 318, here's another hint to find them, if the office is using the IWT then that office has 318s as it's the values from the codes ie H11 G54 values from the 318s that goes into the duty management system and then into RCS and into IWT, categorically every office has 318s and every dom knows it as anytime they cut hours from the office they have to update those 318s to produce new values which are then put into RCS, they can't cut hours from their budgets with out amending 318

Like I said and zx has said, there is paperwork somewhere, call it what you want but it's out there!POSTMAN wrote:There should be paperwork with regards to what revisions you have had and what the duties are, what their contents are ect.
Screws and union rep should each have a copy.
