Bad first day at work as new Post Office employee accidentally sets off anti-intruder device
Firefighters were called to a post office in Wavertree after a worker set off an anti-theft alarm which sent smoke pouring into the street.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Lawrence Road at 6:48am this morning but said the call-out was a false alarm.

Staff told the ECHO a new employee had accidentally triggered the alarm, which filled the premises with a dense fog within minutes.
Fire crews had left the scene by 6.58am.
A Merseyside Fire Service spokesman said: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 6.48am on Wednesday, September 2 to Lawrence Road, Wavertree.
“The call-out was a false alarm due to the activation of an intruder alarm.
“One fire appliance attended the call-out and firefighters had left the scene by 6:58am.
