THE spirit of much-loved Cleethorpes postman Shaun Wright lived on at a gala fun day which raised hundreds of pounds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Tragically, the 47-year-old delivery man, who served the area for more than 30 years, died in April after a short battle with the illness.
His widow Becky was moved to tears by the hundreds of people who attended the family fun day at The Linden Club, in Clee Road, Grimsby, on Sunday, and helped raise money for The Shaun Wright Foundation.
A football match between a Leeds United supporters' Select XI and a Royal Mail Select XI was started with a one-minute round of applause.
There was also a host of stalls and games for all the family to enjoy.
Becky said: "I cannot believe how many people have turned out. The support has been amazing. It made me feel quite emotional to see all the family and friends in one place. Shaun would be so proud of everybody.
"We are raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in his memory and everyone has had a lovely day out. It has all been from my saying after Shaun died that we should have a family fun day and so many people have come from away to be here."
The Royal Mail coach, Andy Fox said: "It is a day to celebrate Shaun. No one wants to lose so it is competitive which is how Shaun would have wanted it.
"Everyone has been emotional over these past few months since we lost Shaun."
Shaun's sister Kim Smith said: "We are overwhelmed by the day. We thank everyone for coming to share the day. It has been brilliant. All the donations that have been made are unbelievable."
On a cake stall, photos of Shaun were on display along with miniature photos on cup cakes.
The stall was run by Lucia and mother and daughter Lorraine and Lauren Rushby.
Paul Hamilton brought along two barn owls and an African Eagle owl for children to enjoy seeing close up.
There were a host of rides and games.
