From the 2 offices that were shouted about from the cwu fb rooftops,it wasn't individuals it was an office thing.
Not 100% but very much doubt just one bod would get their hours upped in an average office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If there are hours being put into an office, with the exception of specialist jobs, surely those hours should be offered to to the most senior part timer? Whether someone currently completes their duty on time or not is irrelevant.

You'll have to explain that one.
Bobby has been part time for 12 years but never works overtime. Billy has been a postman 2 years but has worked 40 + hours a week .

Should Billy have his hours increased while Bobby stays on 25 hrs?
i can see how you may feel seniority has been bypassed, however in the above scenario Bobby has never worked o/t and Billy does. I don't think its about ot in general it's about whether or not enough time has been allocated to a duty for it to be completed. It is possible for Bobby to have signed for a duty that they knew they could complete and therefore not get offered o/t to complete. In contrast Billy has the complete oposite. if i were the rep in such an office i would push for an increase in duty/attendance time and offer it out to the most senior applicant.
The overall assumtion being made is that the o/t mentioned is in order to complete your duty. If you're on a p/t contract and you do o/t on another delivery or something else within RM this imo would not constitute your contractual hours being increased.

I've only worked in one office, so my observations can only be based on that.

However, are you trying to tell me that after a year or two, when a part timer claims he should be full time due to working 40 hrs a week, that management and union will know what that overtime consisted of? Will they just assume it was wholly prepping his own duty? Why wasn't it prepped by a full timer? That full timer could be the other part timer who has never worked overtime, but has seniority and feels he should be made full time.

There is such a huge grey area, so many assumptions and what-if's that I don't believe there can be an official policy on this. Better to admit it's just down to luck or favouritism or brown-nosing.

you're right a massive grey area however there are 552's and resourcing to cover and capture some of those concerns.
