Based on my Induction Day 3 years ago, it will be boring!

Most of the time is learning about the company and very little is about the job. It started a bit like being at school with you having to introduce the person next to you! Then some videos about delivering the mail correctly, but nothing at all about scanning things, getting signatures and the like.

No driving assessment, the only physical things we did were to push a York (large upright trolley like supermarkets use) round in a circle and use the brake on it. Plus demonstrate how to pick up a mail pouch (red bag that contains the post), making sure you bend you knees and not your back! Wear jeans and a free fitting top, nothing decent but nothing tatty either.

Make sure you get paid for the day, including any overtime if you go over your contracted hours for the day - ie a 30 hour contract means anything over 6 hours should be paid as overtime.

I did mine 4 weeks ago and it was very boring. Nothing about the job itself, just about Royal Mail in general and a few stupid quizzes. The format of the course has recently changed and the Trainer read most of the content out from a manual which made it even more boring. There was no practical element to it either. We were told to wear jeans and trainers but we didn't need to as it turned out because H&S training now takes place in the office. Make sure you claim for travelling time as well as fuel.

For anyone who has not done it yet, I agree with everything peshwaarinan has just said, the single element I appreciated most
was the short video showing how a stereotypical scally would try to nick the mail and how to stop him.

Did they show the video on how to deal with the dogs

Just Kidding. But after a while on the job you'll recognise the frustration.
