Decisions taken at tomorrow’s Postal Executive count among the most important in our union’s whole history. We hope that before the meeting you will consider the points we raise here. Totally agree with the letter, but I fear we are heading for another 'compromise'. If so we will need to know which way PEC members voted, for when the PEC elections come around next year.

Now why would you defend the indefensible. There is no kudos unless you are motivated by a desire to progress through the union ranks. There are those who call a spade a digging implement. The letter sets out the aspirations of most of us, it may well be pie in the sky but judging from the Way Forward and SDD it can certainly do no harm. If nothing else it highlights the names of those belonging to the council and will no doubt be noted at election time.

i have no desire to progress anywhere. My point is that it is very easy to write a letter like that - any single member could do it!!!!

Whats a bit different is actually putting yourself forward for the responsibility and having the futures of 130,000 people in your hands. Its a bit like a football pundit who's never managed attacking teams/managers

I'd say Liverpool and Leeds are doing that bit.

Regardless of what the PEC decide it is the whole of the membership who will decide the final outcome. What then is the use of the PEC sitting to decide if it should be put to the membership? The negotiating officers pass it on to the PEC and the PEC then pass down to the membership - so get it posted and lets all have a look.

If they do that there will be a helluva lot of wildcatters - in fact that IS what we should do - not only would it prove solidarity but it may well help to focus a few minds on what is happening outside the meetings and chats.

The fact that it is day 2 and still nothing from the PEC bodes ill for this agreement.

It seems like the P.E.C are trying to take the steam out of the wildcat strikes by delaying the decision in the hope that they will be starved back to work and just taking the money on offer.
