Really want the job!

Post by lettergirl »

Hi there. First post.
I only completed the online tests last Saturday evening so I'm at the VERY early stages of applying for a postwoman job. And I'm desperately hoping that I get it...to the point of being rather obsessed at the moment. I was a teacher but left due to hearing problems. For the last year I've been a cook as I love cooking; but it's not quite lived up to how it was sold to me. My son has been a (very) part-time postie for the last year and suggested it to me. Then we saw a job being advertised fairly local to me. And the more I thought about it, remembered how much he enjoys it, read comments on here, and reflected upon what I'm looking for in a job - outdoor working, an active job etc I realised I've GOTTA GET THE JOB!!

Hi lettergirl, good luck with your application. I'm female, aged 47 and started last Monday. RM still seems to be a more male orientated environment but there are quite a few ladies in my office and all the blokes are really friendly. I think it's a great job (so far!). I love being outdoors and meeting people and being paid to keep fit! x

I've still not heard anything...since I completed the online tests on24/7. That makes it 3 weeks...but from what I understand, that's normal?

Hi lettergirl, I initially started my application and did the on line tests on the 2nd June, I have just received my official employment email today to start on the 25th of this month, it is a very long process with lengthy delays so patience is definitely a must, if you dont hear back though within another 4/5 days email them. good luck. :Very Happy

Still nothing...applied 24/7...
But I have noticed that Royal Mail postman jobs pages have decreased from 6 pages to one. With only 9 jobs being advertised...almost as if they're trying to halt new applications until backlog dealt with.
Anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks

Did you get an email saying that said you passed or failed the online test? I applied for 2 and failed 1 test.I got the emails the next day (3rd of August) saying that they received my application and on the 10th received the passed and failed ones. Then on the 11th got my interview appointment. I was successful and just got a text saying that I passed the security checks hopefully I'll start on the 22nd for my induction day

I've received NO acknowledgement at all...other than online where my status says 'tests completed'... :confused
