He has no real policies to belittle. Anyone can talk the dreamy aspirational things like "more/better/affordable housing" "better education" " more money for the NHS" and all the other things that clearly any reasonably sane person would want, but then that's the easy part. Just another no-hoper, really.

People are moving away from the "big society" or the state if you like, We are retreating into our own little private worlds of close family members because ultimately in a world where it's been proven that you can't really trust anyone whether it's the police, the media or politicians that's really all you have left, unfortunately that leaves socialist policies with nowhere to go. I'm buying a little cottage in the remote highlands, growing some grade A green and I'm going to set the dogs on anyone or anything that comes within 400 yards of my front door.

You're quite right ft, I've been a socialist for most of my life, an ex labour party member and supporter but I don't recognise anything that is remotely socialist and electable. People just don't give a crap anymore about policies, politics and politicians. If they aren't fiddling expenses, lobbying for their pals, taking bribes or touching up other men or women then they aren't in the palace of Westminster.

Corbyn is doing well because he offers something distinct from the Tory philosophy, somenting you don't get with the other candidates. He hasn't changed his tune over the years, the electorate is moving towards him a bit. However our electoral system is broken and it will take a restructuring to the AV system we will use in the Labour party leader election (you can still sign up for free as a union member - as a supporter)to to get a more representative and fairer election result that improves the chances of JC and co. Burnham is getting concerned and starting to trot out soundbites that will hook a few into thinking he is in sympathy with Corbyn, but his track record is one of the classic convictionless career politician. That's what I like about JC, he has stuck to his guns and a lot of people are moving towards him at this point in political history.

It's not old ideas, the old ideas are being already rolled out by the establishment to keep many of the working/under class in their place as relatively powerless, at the bottom of the pile, serf type slaves with few working rights and an uncertain future week to week.

I like Corbyn, he's not too different in age to me, just a little bit younger. He'll remember the good old socialist days of nationalisation, power to the people and union influence, ah bless him. If you think of him as just JC - who knows :nervous there may even be divine intervention.

Personally I have never voted Labour in my life, in my younger days, before I woke up I voted Tory. If you ask people who admit to not voting why? you will probably get the reply, no point, they are all the same. This is definitely true of the Labour and Tory parties. Corbyn is a throwback to the past when Labour stood for Labour values. That is why he may well win, it could also, despite what the new Labour, Tory lite bunch claim be a good thing for labour. If you are a Tory, you vote Tory and you get Tory. If you vote Labour, you get Tory lite. If he wins, I shall join the Labour party. Where I live, Labour have as much chance of being elected as Elvis being reincarnated. At one time that meant voting tactically to keep the Tories out. In 2010 the Libdems put the tories in. They lost my vote forever. At present there is no opposition to the Tories. In Scotland the SNP absolutely destroyed Labour. I believe it is because as I said previously, there is no difference between Labour and Tory. Corbyn could be that difference.

IMO there's little point in chattering about equality unless you can become an electable movement to make it happen, I don't believe Corbin is the answer and I do think he is reminiscent of Michael Foot.
I really hope JC wins.
The balance of power in the commons is changing, Labour lost virtually all of Scotland and despite being in a minority the SNP has managed to force the UK government into giving them much of what they want, despite loosing the independence referendum.
If labour does not attract the votes needed to get into power they can and will still influence power because we live in different times to the era of Michael foot. It is likely that the days of outright majority government could be (in the short term at least) a thing of the past. meaning that we would be more likely to get a coalition.

The Tories only won the last election because Scotland deserted the labour party, thinking that if they voted SNP they could work with Labour to introduce more socialist policies. Meanwhile the press scared some English voters into thinking that voting for Labour would mean that we would all be ruled by the SNP. Add in the fact that what Labour was saying was not really that much different than the Tories and bingo, you get a very slim Tory majority
. Think you will find labour deserted Scotland sharing same values and joining forces with the tories during the referendum .
Jeremy Corbyn is the only one who will challenge the Tories on real issues, and give a clear divide between Labour and the Tories. The latter part of the "New Labour " era allowed the Tories to guide the agenda, and therefore win the arguments on their terms. Ultimately that is why labour lost, in 2010.

At a time when the gap between rich and poor has increased exponentially (mostly under new labour), inequality has increased, Bankers continue to go unpunished for the real reason we have a debt problem, obscene austerity cuts on the poor, totally uncalled for attacks on our right to Strike and many other policies which take hard fought for rights and freedoms from us that we should expect in what is actually a very rich country. During this time new labour has largely failed to look after the people it was set up by and for.

Dave ward was spot on in this interview. I actually stopped voting labour after 1997 because I could see that Blair was sending labour along the same Tory policies that came before of helping turn workers into nothing more than a means to serve the ends of corporations to line their own pockets.

All I can say to anyone who thinks Jeremy could not win an election, is listen to some of his talks/ interviews, he speaks so much sense, and I believe he will be able to get this message to the electorate and hopefully inspire people to vote labour.

I like Corbyn as well and as many have already said, NULabour are just Red Tories or Tory-lite.

Corbyn may well struggle in the south of England but there is no reason Labour can't mark a dividing line somewhere around London and try and win as many seats as possible North of this and become a party again.

The likes of Kendall and Cooper just make me sick and Labour under the status quo will never govern again anyway as they will never regain voters in Scotland in the next 20 years+.

The SNP are quite a bunch, talk left with right leaning policies, cutting business tax? Council tax freeze for 7 years, Not one progressive, redistributive policy since they came into power.

Propped up by the Scottish Conservatives when a minority government.

The last few years while they have had a majority government, Health, Education and our Policing standards have suffered terribly.

Don't start me on the Taxpayer funded White Paper or the price of oil!!

Favourites to win a majority again at Holyrood next year, the mind boggles with the electorate
