BRUSSELS - The EU said Friday it has opened an anti-trust probe into the planned multi-billion-euro merger of US delivery service giant FedEx and Dutch rival TNT Express.

US delivery giant FedEx agreed in April to buy its Dutch rival TNT Express

"The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation to assess whether the proposed acquisition of TNT Express by FedEx Corporation is in line with the EU merger regulation," the bloc's executive arm said in a statement.
