Woman left feeling "panicked, shocked and scared”

A POSTWOMAN was confronted with a naked customer who blithely asked: “Anything for me, postie?”

Newbury magistrates heard the aggrieved was left feeling “panicked, shocked and scared”.

In the dock on Thursday, July 16, was 47-year-old Julian Lloyd of Wolsingham Way, Thatcham.

Helen Waite, prosecuting, said: “The post office worker was delivering letters to Mr Lloyd’s neighbour when she heard a male voice behind her say ‘Anything for me, postie?’.

“He hadn’t a stitch on. She believed he wished her to see him naked.”

Mr Lloyd was arrested, the court heard, and in interview he exercised his right to silence.

Mr Lloyd admitted behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress on April 10 this year.

He has a previous conviction for sexual assault, magistrates were told.

Ms Waite said: “He has not been charged with exposure because of his mental health issues.”

Steve Molloy, defending, described the matter as “a sad case” and explained that his client, a former teacher and Vodafone employee, was suffering from a degenerative condition, Huntington’s Disease, which causes behavioural problems, lack of empathy and early onset dementia.

He pointed out: “He made it through his life without troubling the criminal justice system once, until 2011.

“He was assessed as borderline fit to plead.”

Magistrates will sentence Mr Lloyd on August 6. He was meanwhile released on bail.
