Can I ask a silly question...Why are they out ? Is it because they are trying to enforce new ways of working by executive action ?

forcing new duties on the drivers like it or lump it my mate told me that they were going to be taken in one by one to air their views on the matter i am waiting for my mate to txt back. I was also told that the managers already booked agency drivers in advance as they new it would kick off.

some of my frinds have headed down to normanton today - will post up any interesting news. is brilliant - i hope the wildcats spread further into leeds.

what do people think of the need for the posties who are on unofficial action or who support the walkouts to co-ordinate together to spread the strikes and put pressure on the CWU to make them official? could also co-ordinate a campaign for a 'no' vote if the CWU exec accept the deal and ballot.

The leadership of the CWU has absolutely no interest in making these official - otherwise why cancel the strike action scheduled for today at other offices? Diverting the momentum behind these wildcats into lobbying of the executive would be both pointless and counterproductive. Not to mention a campaign would take days or weeks to build up, then 7 days notice.

The only hope is if other offices walk out with them (I'd imagine those who might are waiting for the announcement later today (or will it be tomorrow at this rate?)) and some support to help those who've been on the line longest: http://royalmailchat.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6642
