i hope the rolling strikes are going to continue as planned from wednesday. if the pec recommend we accept the deal then a month long ballot will give rm time to clear the current backlog and then we will have to start from scratch if we vote the deal out

Thats what i fear, we are going back to square one everytime.
Twice we have had them on the rack ,surely the union cant be fooled again.We have all lost money and the scousers and others have lost a lot more. I do not think the strike could regain momentum again.

Thats what I fear, we are going back to square one everytime.
.... ........Exactly what I feel.When they are on the floor we keep letting them get back up.By the time we`ve got our ballot result the backlog will have gone and Christmas will only be a few weeks away(zero public support I can see the headlines now).We need to sort this now!.
It's important to be seen to be thinking about RM's offer. It must be considerably different from the last one to have been accepted for consideration at all. We'll lose the goodwill that some of the press have been showing if we don't try to reach a reasonable settlement. And if it is a reasonable settlement, we want it!
If the offer is not good enough, there will be continued support for strike action. And the size of the backlog in mail doesn't really matter - the disruption in mail deliveries is what people notice, and that's almost an instant effect, whenever strike action resumes, if that is what has to happen.

That's true. Last week was the first time my customers realised there was a strike at all this year - they (mostly) had no idea with the limited rolling strikes because people are very self-centric - if their service is normal, they believe everyone else's is too.
This sounds very dodgy the fact that the PEC are dragging their heels. If the deal was o.k. they would have made a decision straightaway. I think a few of the PEC are very unhappy with the deal, but a few think its the best on offer. Great a squabble amongst our top boys. Maybe the top boys don't fancy a fight anymore? The laughable part is they have'nt lost a penny of pay and are flip-flopping over the deal. I have now got used to losing pay, so lets go forward and fight for the deal we really want. Time to back Liverpool!!! The top boys are now starting to look weak, too many cosy dinners at posh restaurants have turned their heads. Cynical but do we have future directors Hayes and Ward leading us? Remember Johnson??
Good post although on point 1 we already have a 2 tier workforce (at least 2 in fact). I work in an RDC and our basic pay is more than those on delivery. Totally wrong in my opinion and how/why it got to that stage I don`t know.
