Whats is got to do with not cancelling stamps and loosing job ? ..... Yes ...not cancelling stamps could save some jobs in mail centre . Cancelling or not cancelling .... will not make any different on DOs ... but cancelling stamps will make difference on Mail Centre ... mail centre will loose " hand stamping " jobs. We must save mail centre " hand stamping " jobs so DO NOT cancel stamps in delivery offices.

stamps not being cancelled is allegedly costing rm a small fortune so losing revenue will lead to job losses in both mc,s and delivery.

You could be right ... ..... but ...by cancelling stamps you are putting some one out of job in mail centre ..its not delivery officers job to cancel stamps , mail centres have duties for cancelling stamps. Let mail centre use more resources for this task. If delivery offices start cancelling on regular basic then ... hand stamping jobs in mail centre would go, let mail centre do their job and DO concentrate on delivery side of it.

but once the mail has left a mc delivery are not going to send it back to mc if it has,nt been cancelled because it will then lead to a charge of wilful delay. agree with you that more handstamping duties should be made in mc,s but as you know rm are cutting jobs everywhere. so let the managers address this problem.

I'd like the machine that print the red address barcode on the envelope (whatever it is called) to also print the address in invisible ink onto the stamp just to see how much revenue is lost and who steels it.
I once bought some heavy card off ebay and the postage of £15 looked very much like un-cancelled stamps removed from business mail (i.e. several blocks of stamps still joined together). I got the impression he worked in a reception opening mail and took the envelopes home and removed the stamps.

They are spending millions on them so to run a line through a stamp shouldn't be difficult (they manage to put barcodes over everything else).
The machines that place the barcode stickers on items are the flat sorting machines, only a few larger MCs will have them
only Manchester's got one of those. :thumbdown

Bristol and Gatwick have also got one, wouldn't suprise me if HCN and Medway also have one

Surely stamps not being cancelled will reduce shareholder dividends :cuppa rather than causing job losses. :wave

Did anyone see the video on this weeks RMTV? It was taking that woman about 30 seconds to cancel one stamp, not exactly the real world is it?

If delivery staff start cancelling stamps...... in near future .... no mail centre will cancel any stamps on parcels ...they will shove ALL non-cancelled stamps mail to delivery offices ... so DO staff will be dong MC jobs for NOTHING ... can't you see that ??
