What does this mean?

Post by movingon »

Hey there
Can anyone help with this please?
I was on a waiting list and asked to be considered for a new post that came up. A week later I got an email - part of it said:

"You will now be considered along with other candidates, and we will notify you of the outcome as soon as possible.

As we can only process a single application, once you have been provisionally offered a vacancy you are removed from our waiting list. At this point you can disable your vacancy alert notification as you need no longer continue searching online as a conditional offer will be made to you subject to security checks."

The first sentence says I definitely haven't got anything yet but does the rest say I will be offered something though? It says "once you have been" not "if"! Am I just being too hopeful??

Quite a few posts on this forum seem to say you go on the waiting list then you get 'fast-tracked' - meaning you do get a job eventually??

I know I should just be patient but I can't help wondering!!!! :confused

Thanks in advance if anyone can help........

No the rest of what you have posted is a "what happens if" not a "this is happening".

I would say about 90%+ of those on waiting lists will eventually be offered a position. Thats mainly because turn over of staff during the 1st few weeks of working for RM is quite high. I would start getting your endurance fitness up

Now that does sound hopeful!!
Lost heart a bit when I didn't get the job and stopped doing my long walks - need to get motivated again!

So....if they don't take you off the waiting list until they've made you a provisional offer does that mean that if a job in another office comes up meanwhile that I could/should apply for that as well?
It all seems to take so long that my 3 months on the list will maybe be up before I've had a chance to get a post!

Thanks.

Apply for every suitable position that comes up, but don't be surprised if the recruiters contact you to see if your interested in an unadvertised position.

I started the process in July 12 years ago, got taken on as a Christmas casual for 3 weeks then laid off but 2.5 months later they called me back and I am still here. There is always hope, and as said before turn over is high in most areas so i think you'll be complaining about the shoes they issue us soon.
