MRM:Hand-stamping tool

Post by POSTMAN »

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2015/0 ... mping-tool

Keep an eye out for the new hand-stamp tool in your office.

From today, delivery offices will start to receive the new hand-stamping tool. Non-cancelled postage stamps in our network lose the business significant amounts of money each year. This tool is designed to easily help our postmen and women stamp out this loss of revenue.

Last year, we asked you for your ideas about how we can protect our revenue. We listened to your suggestions and acted on your feedback and have developed the new hand-stamping tool.

We trialled six shortlisted hand-stamp tools at Banbury and Mount Pleasant delivery offices to arrive at the best model for the job.

Although the first opportunity to cancel stamps is in the mail centre, postmen and women are an essential last line of defence to tackle the issue. Remember: revenue protection is everyone’s responsibility.

So we're getting one for the whole office? I think I'll stick to using my biro, we've got enough daft reasons to queue up at the locker as it is!

I see so many non cancelled stamps that I just haven't got time to cancel all of them, not sure why the machines that are supposed to do the job don't, we all know what happens if we do the job incorrectly?

Probably though the mail being run on the wrong stream, stamped mail has two different streams (at least for iLSMs), only one of them will make the machine cancel any stamps

Got a delivery off them this morning had't got a clue what they were for until I read this thread. Got about 30 of them one for every person in our office. OMG how much that cost might as well let the uncancelled stamps go through the system. Now they sticky back based they almost impossible to get off the envelopes.

You don't need to get the stamp off the envelopes. I got a nice packet via ebay this week, uncancelled, large letter size stamp on a clean jiffy. Anyone could just paste a new address label over the existing one and its a free jiffy and postage included. Not that I'd do that, obviously! :angel

Don't the MC have machines for doing just that?
They are spending millions on them so to run a line through a stamp shouldn't be difficult (they manage to put barcodes over everything else).

The machines that place the barcode stickers on items are the flat sorting machines, only a few larger MCs will have them

MCs don't have the time these days, RM would need to put more staff in

Then its Mail Centre problem ... if delivery staff cancel stamps .. they will be doing some one out job ( mail centre staff)...cancelling stamps is NOT delivery staffs' duty. I do not give a damn if stamps do not get cancelled ... its Mail Centre problem ...let them sort it out ...nothing to do with delivery offices.

There will be a lot more jobs going if delivery staff don't cancel the stamps :arrrghhh
