Either you can provide a link to a part of the Equality Act that stipulates that under any circumstance type 2 diabetes will be considered as a disability under the terms of the act, in the same way that MS or cancer or HIV is.......or you can't.
And anyone with the slightest interest in the condition or disability will know that you can't.
Currently it isn't.

And no amount of waving is going to change that fact.

A condition that can be rectified by surgery isn't and can't be covered by the Equalities Act.

Yes it is, it may not be covered after the surgery but as long as the current effects meet the definition of the act then its covered regardless of whether surgery can cure it or not

And yes type 2 can be covered under the Equalities Act, but isn't necessarily and isn't as straightforward as type 1.

Actually yes it is just as straight forward as type 1, the actually illness/injury is inconsequential its the effects it has on your daily life that determines whether its covered or not, so its the exact same test for type 1 or 2, the wording is actually "A person has a disability for the purposes of the Act if he or she has a
physical or mental impairment and the impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities"


There are a limited number of conditions that are defined as being covered or not covered in the act out with these you cannot simply say that one condition ie type 1 is more straightforward than type 2

I have friends who have both type 1 and 2 diabetes, the guy with type 1 manages fine he has his little computer telling him exactly how much insulin he needs and manages fine, where by the guy with type 2 also manages but needs a lot more frequent toilet breaks, he would need a reasonable adjustment on his round at work where by the guy with type 1 would need none at all, thats not indicative of every one with type 1 and 2 just that every case is different and you cannot simply claim its more straightforward with type 1 when its clearly not, every case has its own merits

Notwithstanding the cause of the sacking is not diabetes it is the regularity of the sickness absence from whatever cause.

I must say I surprised myself in agreeing with ZX135 I never thought that day would come. It is correct that the Equality Act does apply where the condition does affect your daily life and adjustment is required.

Mother Hubbard conduct on this board toward me was agressive and confrontational in tone, that's why I discontinued the conversation. It was pointless as nothing I put down would have been enough.

I would like to echo that sentiment, I had a relative suffered a stroke of a similar nature, it's life changing, with training hopefully your father will regain as much function as he previously had.
