Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
A ballot for strike action is the only weapon the OPGS have, use it effectively and don't return to work on the vague promise to "look into it" you will only get fobbed off til forever, you something more "solid" it's the only way that the issue will be addressed and by an outside agency, the publicity will prove extremely embarrassing and the bullying manager will have to deal with the senior management for causing them problems.

Dave Ward wrote:We attempted to deal with the issue following a survey we performed amongst
Branches and members and as such tackled this with the ‘fairness, dignity and
respect’ joint statement. In addition all of the current Agreements that have been
negotiated with Royal Mail have all majored on eradicating this sort of behaviour and
where there are instances of this it should be challenged locally through the relevant
procedures and if needs be the IR framework and needless to say of course that we
continue to challenge these behaviours, where they are raised with us, we challenge
directly with senior management.
To be clear every time we have either had disagreements, points of principle
registered with the Outdoor Department they have been resolved to either the
satisfaction of either the member directly or the appropriate Area Rep / Branch.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
ive just logged on to this site and what im reading is what is going on in my office. i have worked for royal mail for nearly 28 years and im not affraid to say i USED to love my job, but now its all about how much managers can get us to do. ive been asking for about a year and a half to get my walk tested and all i get from my manager is that other people who do my duty can finnish a hour before there time (even though most of them claim up to a hour ot). things came to a head a few months ago when i went off with stress...it was horible..i felt as if the manager had been baiting me and other posties seen it to..when i complained to his manager i was told i was being "man managed" things are getting worse now if i dont laps a duty then im being made to stay until 2.48 thats me being made to take my break and sign out at this time...is there any other office out there being made to do this?

Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
They can only make you do that if they are doing it to everyone else. Make notes and document it because you may need it one day. Everyone should be taking their breaks anyway but yes it's all bully tactics.long timer wrote:ive just logged on to this site and what im reading is what is going on in my office. i have worked for royal mail for nearly 28 years and im not affraid to say i USED to love my job, but now its all about how much managers can get us to do. ive been asking for about a year and a half to get my walk tested and all i get from my manager is that other people who do my duty can finnish a hour before there time (even though most of them claim up to a hour ot). things came to a head a few months ago when i went off with stress...it was horible..i felt as if the manager had been baiting me and other posties seen it to..when i complained to his manager i was told i was being "man managed" things are getting worse now if i dont laps a duty then im being made to stay until 2.48 thats me being made to take my break and sign out at this time...is there any other office out there being made to do this?

The question I have to ask, and I do sympathise with your situation, but... why are you taking your MR at end of duty?long timer wrote:ive just logged on to this site and what im reading is what is going on in my office. i have worked for royal mail for nearly 28 years and im not affraid to say i USED to love my job, but now its all about how much managers can get us to do. ive been asking for about a year and a half to get my walk tested and all i get from my manager is that other people who do my duty can finnish a hour before there time (even though most of them claim up to a hour ot). things came to a head a few months ago when i went off with stress...it was horible..i felt as if the manager had been baiting me and other posties seen it to..when i complained to his manager i was told i was being "man managed" things are getting worse now if i dont laps a duty then im being made to stay until 2.48 thats me being made to take my break and sign out at this time...is there any other office out there being made to do this?

Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
B and H is simply the backbone of Royal Mail in general, it is the only way the untrained, unskilled and ignorant managers know how to manage people, they are in jobs that they are not capable of doing….FACT. They lack manners and basic skills, in our unit in Belfast we have 7 deputy managers….enough said?

Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
I got so badly bullied that I'm suffering mentally since I left.
It seems unfair that managers are allowed to treat you so appallingly badly and nothing is done about it.
They get 'shipped' to another delivery office so they can bully anew.
I don't get it!
If I were to tell you my story. It would make headline news. It's that bad

Re: Bullying and harassment in delivery offices
One point about bullying & harassment by managers is this...............
They only bully those, who allow themselves to be bullied or harassed.
If you stand up for yourelf & don't allow those tactics, they move on to some poor soul, who accepts it.
We had one fellow at my office who was continually harassed to do more & more all the time. To the effect that he was working way over his time.
He would moan to his fellow workers about being given too much work, but to the managers, he just agreed to do what they asked.
I told him that if they asked the unreasonable, all he had to do was say No!
He carried on doing as asked, then had a stroke.
