Timescales from security checks to starting work
Can anyone give feedback on timescales from when you received email advising security checks being done to when you heard if you were successful, was it email or phone and how long you had to wait for your induction/start date? Royal Mail quote 14 working days for security checks and I wondered if thats accurate. Thank you

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Thank you Postman. It doesnt seem very realistic in our case though, we are already in week 12 and still at pre-employment checks!

Hubby did induction yesterday, just the usual health & safety etc and started today, did a walk with a colleague, really enjoyed it! Starting a little earlier tomorrow to see the sorting process etc. Have you got your date yet peshwaarinan?

Re: Timescales from security checks to starting work
Glad he's enjoying it! They wanted me to start on Monday but I had a pre-arranged holiday. I explained to the Manager at the interview that I had a holiday booked and he said it wasn't a problem. I've emailed recruitment to tell them this but they haven't replied as yet.

Ah I can't see that being a problem...especially if you told them at the interview. Hope you get a date soon and

Re: Timescales from security checks to starting work
Ah good luck...I understand it was pretty basic stuff on the induction and they were finished by 4. He is trying to get his expenses refunded which apparently your manager can arrange. Where will you be based? He is enjoying it but is pretty knackered by the end of each shift :-D Hours are 9-2 but they have him starting at 8 most mornings, which he doesnt mind...no sorting, just getting straight out on the walks - 2 of them doing it. Is finished before 1 most days. guys seem ok at the office. His biggest issue is the PDA for scanning as it keeps crashing! Was nice to get a full weeks pay yesterday even though he only started by attending the induction on Monday! Thought he would need to work a week in hand but he didnt! Hope it goes well for both of you

Re: Timescales from security checks to starting work
CBeebies my induction is in Warrington.
I actually love walking but I'm not sure how I'll cope with 10+ miles a day! My hours are 9.30 to 2.30 Wednesday to Saturday. Mine is a 3 month contract. I'm really nervous about starting though but I'm sure it will be fine. Where is your hubby based? x

No nor me. However I'm sure that I am going to be a slimmer version of my current self in a few months which is a bonus!
