Re: Have your say
Why are the surveys the only bit of correspondence that RM doesn''t send to employees door's? Instead you have to fill it out under the watch of a lino ..

Re: Have your say
Why don't the line managers complete the Have Your Say Survey??
Everyone knows that I am no fan of the management of Royal Mail as we tend to do too much lapsing. The only way things seem to change in Royal Mail though is when everyone - staff, union and managers - all agree that things need to change.
What does your lino think about all this lapsing? I'm guessing that many will say that their hand is forced from their DOM to lapse duties without it being adequately covered. Anyone who has ever seen managers delivering mail will see that they are not always happy on deliveries.
What do they think about this Indoor Work Tool thing? Is it achievable or unworkable? How many of them think that too many staff have left recently that there isn't enough staff in the office to do the duties?
How do they think that we can achieve better quality of performance targets?
I'm guessing that the answers to these questions are covered in management briefings by their DOM and it is something which us mere mortals i.e. staff, do not have access to. But to me, this only serves to create a 'Them and Us' situation. Yes, line managers are on bonuses and stuff but I wonder how many of them would be prepared to forgo their bonuses at the expense of better working conditions in the delivery office?
I have seen some experienced line managers, for example, being moved about from pillar to post from one delivery office to another. Some that have managed a certain section for years have been moved to another depot and back to a different section in the same office albeit temporarily!!
All this smacks of desperate measures by DOMs under pressure from Sector Managers above them to prove that they are managing their managers, staff and the office budget efficiently - but it is in no way improving the working conditions of everyone who works in the delivery office.
And so the Have Your Say Survey might have given us some numbers and percentages but it concludes absolutely nothing!!
Why do 31% of people hate their job?????
Why do only 32% of people feel ashamed to work for Royal Mail Group??

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
