Does this mean that I have definitely got a job?

Post by peshwaarinaan »

Congratulations, you have passed your recent assessment and we are moving your application to the next stage.
The next steps in the process are as follows:
Please log back in to your application and complete the additional fields which will now be available to you. This information will allow us to commence the security checks process and is required in order for us to proceed with your formal offer of employment. Please complete this information within 48 hours.

Had interview on 1st June and received this email today asking me to complete security checks. Does this mean I have definitely got a job if I pass the security stage? I'm squeaky clean by the way!

My husband had the same email on 1st June (interview 21st April so yours has gone through quickly!). 4 days later, 5th June he had this one

Thank you for attending the interview for the above role.
We are pleased to confirm that you have passed your interview and we would like to offer you this role. At this stage this is a conditional offer as we need to complete our pre-employment checks. These checks may take up to 14 working days as this includes a criminal record check. If you are currently employed please do not hand in your notice until you are notified that you have successfully passed
As part of the pre-employment checks you are required to answer the following questions
Please reply to this e-mail with the answers to the questions below
1) Will this be your only job? If no please state the name of your employer, the nature of their business and the hours you will be working.
2) Do you have any health condition which may affect your ability to perform this kind of work? If yes, please give brief details.
3) In relation to your health, do you consider that any adjustments would be necessary to allow you to perform the proposed job activities? If yes, please give details
4) Do you have any UNSPENT criminal convictions, impending prosecutions or conditional discharges, which have not previously been declared to us? If yes, please give details.
You will be contacted by email or telephone on completion of your pre-employment checks to arrange a start date.

On the same day 5th June he them received thie email:

Good Morning,
Further to our to our previous email we have now submitted your details to begin the mandatory pre-employment check which will take about 14 working days.
If you are successful in passing the pre-employment checks we will contact you again to arrange your induction day and confirm your first day in the role (this is usually the day after your induction). For your induction you may need to travel to a location which is different to your usual office. The location will be advised when we next contact you
This offer is conditional as it remains subject to you passing our pre-employment checks so do not hand in your notice to your current employer at this point. Please be patient whilst we progress your application.
We need you to supply us with a digital photograph of yourself. This should be a head and shoulders shot, against a white background, taken on a camera or a camera phone which is capable of e-mailing a photo.
Could you also indicate a preferred name that you would like printed on the reverse side of your Photo ID card. This should be the name that you are usually known as, but cannot be offensive to any person. We need the photo so we can arrange for your identification card to be produced.
If you cannot send a photo, you can go into the unit and have one taken. Phone the manager to arrange a time to do this.
Please go to the office or send the e-mail within the next 7 days.

We did this immediately but still waiting. So its not a definite job offer but as long as you pass the security checks you should be fine :dance

Thank you Sharon, he definitely had a different email to me then. It's very confusing!!!!!!

Do you know when they ask for references???? My employer has no idea I'm thinking of leaving. I don't want to say anything if nothing comes of this but on the other hand I don't want a reference request landing on his desk either  .

Any idea?

I thinm you misunderstood. He had exactly the same email as you 4 days prior to getting the other 2 emails posted above! You'll' be fine! His email on 1st June said this:

Congratulations, you have passed your recent assessment and we are moving your application to the next stage.

The next steps in the process are as follows:

Please log back in to your application and complete the additional fields which will now be available to you. This information will allow us to commence the security checks process and is required in order for us to proceed with your formal offer of employment. Please complete this information within 48 hours.
View/Edit Application ...

The security check process can take up to 14 days; once complete we will be in touch to discuss your start date.

Information about next steps can be accessed by clicking here Next Steps

Once we have agreed your start date, we will then arrange for your contract of employment to be issued.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information at hrsc_rrf@royalmail.com.

I have no idea about references, my husbands not working so notice to hand in but I don't reckon they would send them until they have confirmed the start date. That wouldn't be fair on you. Hubby latest email doesnt recommend handing notice in until security checks have been passed and you have had confirmation, so it would be totally out of order for them to ask for a reference prior to that stage. Good luck, if you have got this far and you have nothing to show up on your DBS check, I reckon you have got the job...just a bit more patience needed. All this hassle for a six month contract haha...we are pulling our hair out with frustration and checking our emails every couple of hours! Keep us updated..I;ll let you know timescales when we hear further :wave

Step 8 East - Formal Offer & Information Request

Good morning,

I am pleased to confirm that you have passed the pre-employment screening and I would like to confirm the offer of employment.

You will start with a Welcome day to introduce you to working for Royal Mail and so we would like to agree a suitable date. This is a mandatory day for which you will be paid.

The next available Welcome Day is at Leicester Mail Processing Unit.

You would then commence your employment on 14/07/2015.

Hope you get yours soon!

Thanks yes exactly 3 weeks to the day from when he got the same email that you just had...but his status still says pre-employment checks! Now we have to confirm bank details, pre booked holidays and confirm that the date is ok for the induction. Its a bit of pain to travel from Derby to Leicester for the induction but not really a problem. Let us know when you get your next email :thumbup
