what diffrence does it actually make? if your dom wants it done before 1pm on a redelivery or not thats his decision it at the end of the day he could do it with any item doesnt need to be a special, if he instructs you to break of to deliver a certain packet at a certain time thats entirely his decision
The difference is will it be flagged up as a failure if delivered after 1?

Re: Redelivering a Special...
We have to deliver ALL specials before 1pm whether it be a re-delivery, a Saturday or anything else. If it is a special it has to be before 1pm. End of!

Yep, the only exceptions are foreign ones that aren't actually SD's and hence don't have the 1pm guarantee. Anything else will fail if it's delivered after 1pm.olilew wrote:We have to deliver ALL specials before 1pm whether it be a re-delivery, a Saturday or anything else. You dont know, do you? Does a redelivered special have to be done before one?
Regardless of who tells you, as long as its been attempted before one the next day then what is its status after that?
On delivery ive scanned one as undelivered before 1pm then met the customer after 2pm and handed it over, delivered with a sig, failure?

Fair enough, if i post one and the recipient isnt in to receive it then I couldn't care what time they get it after that, up to 18 days!!
You can't hand one over after 1pm, any day

Re: Redelivering a Special...
The initial contract is for the item to be delivery ATTEMPTED by 9am or 1pm. Once this has been fulfilled, the contract terms have been completed. Subsequent re-delivery is NOT under the same time constraint as to the original contract. Re-delivery of the item is an additional service offer for free by Royal Mail and as such NOT subject to the original T&C's of the original contract. Deliver it when you get there.

I actually do know that it doesn't show as a failure on the system, what is the actual issue that has caused you to ask this? Is it your dom has asked you to make sure one is redelivered before 1 and you don't think you have to?simply_the_best wrote:deadbox wrote:The initial contract is for the item to be delivery ATTEMPTED by 9am or 1pm. Re: Redelivering a Special...
Doing this will correctly show as a failure on the system as it is missing the return to callers office scan and then collected from callers office scansimply_the_best wrote: On delivery ive scanned one as undelivered before 1pm then met the customer after 2pm and handed it over, delivered with a sig, failure?

Re: Redelivering a Special...
My understanding of that is that the system will flag it up as a failure and details of this fail will be sent. As soon as this actual scan is looked at, there is another scan showing as attempted delivery before 1pm so it didn't actually fail and nothing more needs to be done. We certainly are never asked questions for doing this, and I'll often try to offload any remaining packets on my way back to the office through a distant village.
I think that it probably needs to be flagged up in case there are a large number of these - it would be very easy to scan all your specials as attempted, no answer during the morning, and then rescan them later at whatever time you actually get there.
If this weren't flagged up by the system then you'd only get found out when the first customer complained that there was no pre-1pm attempt.

I work in an office that has several deep rurals and breaking off to deliver specials, although required, can cost some posties extra time, I feel they shouldn't have to do it for a redelivery if its not neccessary.
There is no issue with the DOM here, i was just really wanting to know the status of the special and what is required when redelivering one.
