What in gods name went on there. The HGV itself doesn't even look that badly damage. Possible brake failure? Can't see the driver plowing on regardless.

Bit of an update
The lorry driver driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and later released on bail pending further investigation.
