No, £61 isnt a fortune but its something for nothing at the end of the day.
For a lot of people it will make a big difference to their weekly budget.

Re: june bonus
The trouble is this £61 just happens to be what comes out of the calcs from the profit,it IS better than nothing (which it could have been) but in this day and age with margins being squeezed it is about what should be expected.
Now what the managers get is another thing entirely.....

Eveyone moaning about what managers get should just become a manager if they think it is so easy and overpaid.

Re: june bonus
The scheme was never ever an 'incentive' scheme as it fails on just about every essential basic characteristic to be classified as such. It is a 'profit sharing' scheme and at £61 a poorly structured one when you consider the amount of Scheduled Attendance and ad-hoc Overtime that has been lost. Now if it were linked to the DOM or Mail Centre Managers' bonuses on a pro-rata basis then you'd be talking ... but that is all pie in the sky, job security and decent T&Cs are far more important.

Re: june bonus
Do posties get a monthly bonus already? I believe that Indoor Workers receive a bonus of around £10 per week for full timers. We receive this bonus plus the Christmas bonus ( do managers receive that?) if you do get these would you give them up for a lump sum annual bonus that aren't guaranteed.

Yes, it is a very very generous bonus to thank us for our efforts. It is called Lapsing, the less time you have the more they try to give you.

The £61 is the result of an agreed percentage of RM's profits this year being split between all CWU grade staff. Managers don't get this bonus, nor do they get a bigger one in its place. We've been given free shares worth thousands of pounds, from which we're about to get a substantial dividend of £104, and we're getting a share of RM's profits too. That's £165 for free in the next month. Plus we get our Christmas bonuses, and regular pay rises thanks to the Union.
Beats stacking shelves at Tesco for minimum wage.
We have a perfect record in aviation: we never left one up there.

Just concentrate on your own T&Cs and let others inside and outside of RM worry about theirs ... OPGs who moan about the CWU should try becoming members of the CMA and see where that gets them.2pints wrote:Eveyone moaning about what managers get should just become a manager if they think it is so easy and overpaid.

Good post. Also, try to see the pot half full, not half empty. Higher pay IS the way to go. When people are getting a bit long in the tooth for chasing overtime every day they will be able to look back and reflect. I can remember back in the 90s when I was a full time leave reserve there was a certain duty in our office people loved doing. You got an hour a day Monday to Friday @ 1.45 times hourly rate and an hour @ 2 times hourly rate on Saturday for doing a row of another walk across town. With deductions including union subs I used to come out with about £160 for the week which in those days was 41.5 hours for a full timer. How things have changed.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:If we didn't negotiate it, then it was imposed.
Can't see the CWU disagreeing free money, even if it is crumbs from the table.
We should, in my opinion, judge the Union on the results from the negotiations for the new incentive bonus, that will be fairer than blaming them for what RM did. The CWUs mistake, if there was one, was perhaps agreeing to the secrecy behind the bonus, and being a party to having a view of the formula and figures that came up with the £61.
They would have been better off not even being part of it, but then we are in the age of Joint Statements and working together so I suppose it was inevitable. Now they are getting a lot of the flack, some of it misdirected, some of it not.
