Are you having a laugh mate, if 40 odd pound is going to make a big difference to somebody's budget they've got a problem. I for one and I'm not the only one is disgusted it amounts to nothing but an insult to the staff

I have had a few minutes to take a look at the comments associated with the Profit Related Scheme update this afternoon. Firstly, it is worth pointing out the obvious – this is clearly not a sum of money that will be warmly greeted by CWU Members. The reality is though; our focus is not on this type of scheme. It was an arrangement put in place by the business following the privatisation of the company.

The CWU stands for better basic pay and payments that make a difference to your wages every single week of the year. This year against the backdrop of the then coalition Government applying a public pay freeze, the regulator encouraging increased competition and negotiating with a company answerable to shareholders we were able to hold Royal Mail to their commitment of a 2.8% pay increase meaning we have received over 9% cumulative in the last 3 years. We deliver for our members.

Despite this, I know that CWU members deserve a better incentive scheme and that is why we will now enter negotiations with Royal Mail to secure just that. To get the best deal possible we need you to support us as you always have done.

If we didn't negotiate it, then it was imposed.

Can't see the CWU disagreeing free money, even if it is crumbs from the table.

We should, in my opinion, judge the Union on the results from the negotiations for the new incentive bonus, that will be fairer than blaming them for what RM did. The CWUs mistake, if there was one, was perhaps agreeing to the secrecy behind the bonus, and being a party to having a view of the formula and figures that came up with the £61.

They would have been better off not even being part of it, but then we are in the age of Joint Statements and working together so I suppose it was inevitable. Now they are getting a lot of the flack, some of it misdirected, some of it not.
