Two plead guilty to Royal Mail fuel scam

TWO MEN from Llanbrynmair and Aberystwyth have admitted operating a fuel scam at the expense of Royal Mail.

Glen Lewis Duckett, a Royal Mail worker at the time, Benjamin Robert Edwards and his twin brother Paul were due to go on trial at Swansea Crown Court.

But at the last moment Duckett and Benjamin Edwards entered guilty pleas.

Duckett, of Rhydybont, Penparcau, and Benjamin Edwards, of Glanclegyr, Llanbrynmair, admitted making false representations to All Star Business Solutions that fuel being purchased would be used in the business of the Royal Mail.

Duckett, 24, admitted seven offences and Benjamin Edwards, also 24, admitted five, all of them taking place between February, 2012, and January, 2013. The charges involved multiple claims.

Paul Edwards, also of Glanclegyr, Llanbrynmair, maintained his pleas of not guilty and they were accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Judge, Mr Recorder Greg Bull, entered formal verdicts of not guilty and he was discharged.

The other two will be sentenced after the prosecution has been allowed time to decide whether to press ahead with an application under the Proceeds of Crime Act to confiscate any identifiable assets.

They were granted bail meanwhile.
