Mid Wales postman retires after 30 years of first-class service

A DEDICATED Mid Wales postman has retired after serving communities for 30 years.

Chris Williams began working as a postman in 1985, and worked up until his 65th birthday before hanging up his mailbag on May 5.

Mr Williams was well known around the Newtown area delivering to Llanbrynmair, Clatter, Kerry, Sarn, Tregynon, New Mills, Canal Road, Treowen, Garthowen, Pool Road and the town centre.

He went on to become a collection driver and completed 30 years of service.

Delivery office manager Mark Farrington said: “Chris is a very popular member of staff with not only his colleagues but also the customers who he has built a good relationship with.

“He will be missed by everyone at Newtown delivery office and we wish him a long and healthy retirement.”
