I know we're skating on thin ice here...But how do we stand when signing the PDA "P.P and your signature"

For example: If you had a long term customer who has said, "I'm out at work most days if you get a signed for I don't mind you signing for it and putting through my letter box". If you've put their Surname on the PDA but signed it "P.P Postman Pat", surely you're not technically forging their signature?

I personally don't see much difference between a parcel being signed for by a Postie (who after all is already entrusted with all the mail and has been vetted) and it being signed for by a neighbour. Especially with the Business now pressurising Posties to DTN and get rid of those parcels at all costs!

Goes without saying that I'd NEVER consider signing for Specials or deliver them to a neighbour.

That's fair enough. However do you think these Businesses (That are expecting their goods signed for) are happy with any old signature from a neighbour? If they are (and merely what to check that their goods have been delivered) then surely the Posties Signature is as good as any neighbours?

I think Signed Fors are probably an out dated idea, that was designed for a different time. The sooner RM can offer all customers a Tracked No Signature Option the better. It acheives the Aim without too much mucking about.....And as we know Time is Money!

It seems some confusion here,we at PF can deliver to neighbours (not always the case for RM) we get paid bonus if the 739's are below a certain percentage across the depot . It's always best to get rid of the parcel where possible (common sense prevails sometime ) at the end of the day a card should of been left.

Remember though the customer is the sender not the recipient and the customer may have preferred the item was returned to the depot and kept safe rather than doing what this guy did. The customer has purchased a product with a specific delivery spec it's not up to the person delivering the item to change that spec just because he thinks he is doing someone who hasn't paid us for delivery a favour

The driver was from an Agency i spoke to both the Depot Manager and CWU rep.

Whats the point of having CCTV if they don't check it,a quick check would have saved all this bovver.
