Been a rep for a few years now but am totally disillusioned. Not with the union but with colleagues. Trying to get feedback or input on most things is futile. It seems like a dog eat dog, see you later, I'm alright Jack attitude with little help towards each other which in turn creates a perfect storm for managers.
All I'm trying to say is, well, work together, we're all in this together, and everyone would benefit on an indivual basis far more than all the infighting, sniping, dog eat dog scenarios could ever create. Help each other to help yourself.

Im a rep too, and fed up with the moaning, yet when i ask them to stick together, all maner of excuses come out, i feel like banging my head against the wall, so its no wonder Dims and linos take the piss

I pisses me off no end when once in a blue moon an area Rep turns up and word goes round that " the union are in." from all the moaning toadies that do nothing but whinge about their lot and still arrive an hour early and finish an hour late.

But Union HQ has an awful lot to answer for.. this touchy feelie one sided co-operation shite with management is damaging us all. And the Rep gets it from all.

I was a rep too, totally no win situation, too many staff coming in early, cutting corners and making their half hour or so. Then when the Dom asks them to lapse they came running for ' advice' bloody unbelievable. It's easy for frontline staff to slag off their rep until they drop a bollock and need representation. Then for a couple of days they do the job ' properly' before slipping into the same old routine. Apart from that being a CWU rep is all very rewarding - NOT.
The strange thing is, those who are constantly slagging the rep off are the ones who never had the balls to stand as a rep.

Now uncle vince cable has gone there has never been a better time to stick together, but mark my words that will never happen in this company again, the eighties are dead long live the Tory capitalists, and see where that leads us
