There is mention of 'Bumping' in the 2010 MTSF Agreement so it must still be a live option. It is a short paragraph on page 4 of said agreement ...

Bumping
The situation where a volunteer who is not a Surplus Employee has (through a preference exercise) expressed an interest in Voluntary Redundancy and is replaced by a Surplus Employee. In those circumstances, the employee who is replaced will leave Royal Mail Group by reason of redundancy on Voluntary Redundancy Terms.

As I understand bumping, it is where there is surplus staff at an office, and rather than taking VR/EVR those senior enough who want to, can transfer to another office and replace someone there who is given the VR/EVR instead. The person getting the VR/EVR in the transferee's new office would be the most senior person who wants it.
Happened at my former MC where some staff took transfers to DOs nearer where they lived, which meant that people in those DOs could take VR/EVR.

A duty has been removed due to annual savings.
The duty holder can then pick any duty in the office as long as that duty holder has less seniority.(Bumping someone off their duty). The process continues until their are no more selections.

Never heard of that before. AFAIK if a duty is ceased, the duty holder becomes a reserve on the same attendance, and can pick up a vacant duty, or a vacant duty that subsequently arises.
