Delivery dishonest

PERHAPS Royal Mail would care to answer the following questions either through your columns or personally to those of us enduring the shambles resulting from the elimination of a dedicated postman to our road?

Why is it worth paying the (not inconsiderable) premium for so called ‘first class’ mail, when deliveries of same are now taking between four and six working days to arrive in Bishops Way? Furthermore, is it not dishonest of Royal Mail to accept payment for ‘first class’ post when they have no intention of offering such a service?

Should not all ‘first class’ deliveries arriving so late be accompanied by an apology and a refund of the full cost of postage? By accepting payment for first class mail, do not Royal Mail have some implied contractual obligation to provide a first class service?

Surely, before they start messing about with delivery rounds, the incompetents in charge of the Andover office should be obliged to advise customers there will be no point in paying the ‘first class’ premium, because a tenth rate service will be all that is offered? Answers please on a postcard from Royal Mail, but I won’t hold my breath until it arrives.
