NATIONAL BRIEFING - CONDUCT PROCEDURE DRAFT AGREEMENT AND POLICY GUIDES – WEDNESDAY 27 MAY 2015 AT TUC CONGRESS HOUSE LONDON


Talks have now concluded on a new national Conduct Procedure agreement and associated policy guides. LTB 331/2015 has been issued on this subject with attachments.


The briefing will take place on Wednesday, 27th May at:


TUC Congress House, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS


Teas and coffees will be provided from 10.30 am.


The briefing will commence at 11.00 am, concluding not later than 2.30 pm.

The following Representatives are invited to attend the National Briefing:


· One Branch Representative
· Divisional Representatives
· Regional Secretaries
· Territorial Technical Services Representatives
· Parcelforce Regional Organisers
· All Royal Mail Area Representatives (Delivery, Processing, Distribution, Admin and Engineers)
· Fleet and Maintenance Service Representatives
· Multichannel Customer Experience Representatives


Note: In addition to the above attendees we are requesting that Branches send two Unit Representatives to the Briefing, one of which must be a woman.


Travel and subsistence costs associated with attendance at the Briefing will be in line with CWU policies and guidelines.

So if a female doesn't want to go the male can't go.
In this day and age couldn't the CWU have a Civil Partnership type arrangement for those attending such briefings ?

The idea is if a branch wants to send two unit reps one of them should be female, if there is no female rep available then there is no point in sending two reps so only one is necessary but to be honest if an entire branch can't find one female rep willing to attend they might want to look at the reasons behind that.

If you've ever attended a national briefing you'll understand the need for more diversity in the audience, there is a limit to the number of fat, balding, middle-aged men talking about golf anyone can put up with and it's hardly representative of the workplace now.

Then I would qualify even though I'm not female. , the only problem being that it might spoil "the after party".

You could always dress up in your weekend gear LL, but you'd have to make sure everything was secure before attempting the pole dancing.

TBH I feel that it is ludicrous to put a female rep only candidate invitation to attend the briefing. We have seen this in politics where female only candidates for election restrictions would be placed on constituencies. The Office I worked in had 150/160 members of which only 10 to 15 were female none of whom were involved with the union and represented only 10% of the members. I think a member of the CWU is just that regardless of age, sex, colour or sexual orientation. Why are separate conferences held if, as suggested, they have separate problems there are laws to protect them and bullying and harassment procedures. To me it's just another excuse for chattering.

Well I wasn't saying we are 49 just that it isn't old
