By the way, I am a Labour voter and supporter but never been keen on 'expanding' the EU and free movement and labour or what I can call mass-migration and changing of the landscape especially for people at the lower wrung of the economic ladder..
Well put. The people who advocate unfettered free movement within the EU also seem to ignore the fact that the countries the immigrants are leaving behind are suffering badly from everything from falling tax revenues to shortages of skilled/technical/professional employees for jobs, and at some point in the near future these shortages and the problems they lead to will need to be addressed.
Then again, such shortages will only exacerbate the problem, and even more will leave for the more affluent North West of the EU bloc.
Does the short-sighted EU really want to see swathes of the zone from the Baltic states round past the former Soviet republics and down through Greece Spain, Portugal and back up to the ROI being left as depopulated economic wastelands?
Self-serving politicians...a pox on them all.

Perhaps the VE celebrations jus passed you by or perhaps you delight in writing the stupidest comments on this board.

In 1945 Europe had just suffered 6 years of death and destruction for the second time in 40 years.
The European project was designed to avoid that happening again. And the fact we haven't fought WW3 in Europe might mean it has been a success.
Central to that aim of creating a common Europe was/is the free movement of people. It is enshrined in the Treaty of Rome. It isn't and shouldn't be negotiable.

So yes - being part of the EU is a carte blanche for all a sundry to move and settle where they want.
The EU as is wasn't what the British people voted for. They voted to join a Common Market of free trade NOT a wholely politicised organisation that strips nations of self determination, makes laws, imposes ridiculous standards and opens OUR borders to all and sundry - they are even suggesting that the UK should have a quota of 60,000 of the boat people flooding the Mediterranean. We don't need the European Parliament we have our own and our goods can be sold around the world we did perfectly well with the commonwealth which still survives and only people we want to come Britain would be allowed entry. I think that we should vote NO to Europe in next years referendum. The annual cost to the UK is about £20 Billion now who wouldn't think that money would be better spent within our own borders because lets face it what on earth do we get for the money? I'm not anti-Europe I lived there for a number of years and visited almost every European country.

What would be the cost of leaving the EU?
If it is such a bad idea why does every political party advocate staying? Conservative/Labour/Liberal/Green/SNP/Plaid Cymru.
Even the CBI believe the benefits outweigh the negative.

Rip off EU.png

That tells you story mother, the uk is subsidising other nations so the saving would be whatever the difference in contribution and gain. As for the loss - what loss? Whenever we go into battle we fight with the americans not Europe.

Borders it has nothing to do with race, colour, creed or sporting excellence. It's about law, subsidies, self determination, border control, immigration, free trade and the fact that we no longer have control within our own borders.

Full of self serving claptrap, just like overseas aid - we have children in poverty, poor families on food banks on unprecedented levels certainly in my life time. One example is India - £200 million in aid and yet people living in absolute squalor but they can afford a space programme  Yes definitely money well spent :cuppa The UK is fast becoming the soft touch of the world because our people have worked hard for generations only to be expected to support all and sundry.

Yebbut that's all so last century Mr DV....I mean we got curries an' gangsta rap, unprecedented gun crime, organised child molestation, cross border/continent crime, hate-filled religious nutters, organised/forced/underage/sham marriages, Halal slaughter, FGM, unprecedented levels of slavery, corruption, nepotism, the list goes on.
I mean, life must have been just so boring up to the 1950s....

I look around my works office and all the older guys live in lovely houses where back before we was over crowded and had a poor benefit system which gives houses away and pushes the prices up for genuine buyers these guys could comfortably afford a house on a postmans wage. These days in London and Kent you have no chance. This country gives too much charity, England always have to be the do-gooders and the average working bloke like us can't afford to buy a house.

What exactly have curries got to do with anything?
As to the rest of your list, did most of those things not exist without the EU?
And most clearly have nothing to do with European integration. It is quite simply a list intended to demonise a section of the community.
It is blatantly racist and you are a pathetic excuse for a man.

Ultimately it doesn't matter because the right wing will lose the referendum and Britain will remain in the EU.

It's the people who will be voting mother and they see no advantages in belonging to a political EU. I find it strange that people think Europe wont buy our goods and services and rather than paying to join a European army as has been suggested let the Europeans pay for our army to protect them.

You certainly can't in London, the property prices are ridiculous. I don't know how anyone can afford a house there, on Homes under the Hammer a one bedroom flat in Fulham went for £350,000 and needed money spent as well.
