When the PEC met last week they rejected Royal Mails 'final' offer. This is the offer that has been flashed around all of our workplaces by Royal Mail.

Following this the PEC then listed the changes that had to be made for the agreement to be acceptable.

From what i can glean ALL of the changes were secured by Ward and the negotiators on Friday evening. On this basis the agreement should go through the PEC. Lets wait and see.

The above is a quote from a member on this forum that is clued up on things CWU. Now if that is the case why so long? just heard on BBC no news until tomorrow.

The move to injunction has nothing to do with the deal or any sell-out.

The union screwed up the strike notification - they did it in the summer as well and a number of strikes couldn't go ahead one week.

Two mistakes like this are totally unacceptable and the membership needs an explanation and a tightening of procedures so it can't happen again - but this is something for later and only a diversion at present.

Although if Beeb are right it's going to be 4-6 weeks for ballot to be run - at this rate Xmas will be past and I would be doubtful if we could get a strike majority in January - now maybe that's the long-stop that RM and CWU leadership knows will make this strike action fizzle out.

I hope we are not getting led up the garden path here but it's happened to me before in another union and we were well and truly shafted by our own union NEC and subsequently by the company.

What the hell have been out for if this is the deal, its the same as the rm document thats been floating about all week so its a NO No for me wheres the mention of MTSF agreement thats the scary one ?

I agree its funny that they can reach an agreement in a matter of hours,
personally, i have a bad feeling about the outcome of this settlement,
no postie can afford to lose money lets face it,but at least it was for a just cause 'We Will Not Back Down to RM Bullyboy Tactics'
their executive force new working hours,etc and our Union do very little about it.

How on earth can you all say you are voting no based on a few snippets, its obvious there is stuff in the deal that hasent leaked out yet.

Please dont tell me you are letting BBC sway you. Billy and Dave and the PEC know that the offer that RM made which was accepted needs to be modfied a fair deal to become acceptable enough to get a yes vote.

i hope there is more to the offer than this,but if not its a no from me as well,plus we need a vote of no confidence on our so called union leaders,obviously 150 grand a year makes people too comfy time for a change and get people in with their feet on the ground

This ain't the Magna Carta Daz - lets not give these guys more credence than they deserve, it shouldn't take two days to look at what is in effect a half dozen proposals.

Well lets put it this way - the BBC are saying something - the CWU having met and reached agreement LAST FRIDAY are saying nothing - and never mind the PEC having to see it, WE need to see it, vote on it and if necessary get back to the IA and round the table.
