DPD reveals 150m new depot investment plan

National parcel delivery group DPD is to invest £150m in ten new UK depots in a move that could create more than 750 jobs.

The investment plan comes after the company ploughed £250m into its operations in the past five years, launching 15 depots and creating 4,000 jobs.

"Our record over the last five years speaks for itself with revenue up over £500m and 4,000 new jobs created," said chief executive Dwain McDonald.

"Now we have announced more good news with a five year plan to build a further ten new state-of-the-art depots which will create another 750 new jobs at least.

"I'm incredibly proud of what we have been able to do in terms of UK jobs and wealth creation - no other parcel delivery company has come close to matching our levels of growth, profitability or investment in recent years."

DPD unveiled the plans during a visit by Chancellor George Osborne to its 43,000 sq ft facility in Raunds, Northamptonshire, which it launched in 2013.

The company has its head office in the West Midlands with more than 50 depots currently across the UK.
