It's real simple people -

Abnormal mail volume = cut off or overtime.

Your choice.

What exactly is there to negotiate?
What comes in must go out...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How heavy is the D2D? Will there be weight/replenishment issues?
If the call rate is higher, then obviously the delivery span is longer.
Therefore to finish on time the peeps will need to be leaving the office earlier.
How can that be achieved?
Extra resources to advance the IPS?
Is it possible to advance the second wave? (There won't be a second wave on Tuesday will there?)
Ensure there is a list of available people willing to cover any cut offs.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who decide they are cutting off, days before the actual event.
"OOh it is something different. I'll cut off". It is embarrassing and pathetic.
(But not as embarrassing and pathetic as union reps voting UKIP)

We don't have much left to protect but the election material payment system is one of those.
If we sit back and accept election material coming as a D2D it's likely the business will move to that model.
There is also the fact that a day specific D2D would be priced as a premium product, it's only right that the staff that will have to do the work are rewarded accordingly.
I didn't see you as the rolling over type.

After speaking to a few of the manager's involved it would seem that they would like to see a payment made, hardly surprising really. If they fail this stuff they're likely to be in the s**t.

I think it's mostly bravado and probably in a lot of cases not even true but there's also a connection with the management style in some offices, I've met some managers I wouldn't work over my time for, there's probably a lesson there for any lurking managers but I doubt they're smart enough to take it on board.

Union reps voting UKIP?
Do we have a mutual acquaintance?

There is now an agreement on the delivery of the d2d election drop for the 5th and 6th may !

It only applies to 4000 odd delivery routes out of 64 thousand.

The D2D drop will be paid on the pence per item which your office normally gets from delivering election. Material !

Ach well. At least we have the consolation of knowing that as Scottish Labour spunk the last of their CWU subs on pish like this, they probably won't have any MPs in Scotland on the 8th of May.

Just let that sink in Jim.

The ones for tue and wed are laying in our office just now.
Who in their right mind is going to vote labour? Considering we've hand umpteen labour leaflets i can't see another one making much impact. Can't we just throw them in a river? :Very Happy

Labour's been sending out D2D for weeks on end since January in Scotland - and you can't argue that isn't material related to the election (since it bangs on about hypothetical compositions of parliament). So the precedent has already been set.
The machine stops.
