same at our office the area rep came down.lots of head shaking, friendly warnings and referring to us as comrades. best I don't say what we refer to him as.anyway according to him if you suddenly stop doing extended and managers check dockets from previous weeks and see you usually go over, youll be in trouble. when did the union stop being on our side

You can't cut off its against Royal Mail rules
I'm guessing a Line Manager or DOM told you that? Or you're a Line Manager or DOM?

I'm personally finding things much easier lately. More calls, more to prep, more IPS, additional indoor work doing Part Timer's prepping, collections, van checks, faulty PDA's, trying parcels at neighbours houses, using a LWT....I'm getting out so late and everything takes so long that I'm having to cut a sizeable chunk of my duty off to finish on time. :Very Happy

With the amount I was leaving in and the sorting we had to do Christmas 2014 was as easy a time as I've ever had since 2nd Deliveries were scrapped.

Why wouldn't we believe it?
Getting together as a group to embark on the said course of action is taking unofficial industrial action.
Given that a lot of the gains of the last agreement were based on the premise of no industrial action, then why would the union back it?

Why the hell would a 'work to the job' be considered as industrial action ?? - beggars belief and purely goes to show that in some areas, the work is too much for individuals. If RM don't believe it then get the area managers involved and ask them to do the walk.

RM should be like the Army. Different grade and levels but at the end of the day, if need be, everyone is required to point the gun and shoot. Every RM employee should be the same, regardless of role. - Don't be afraid of the red bags, get out there and do.

At the same time, there are some workers who day in day out take the pee and need reigning in for the benefit of the job and fellow workers.

Work to rule would show who is and who isn't and who does and who does not.

Doing the job properly isn't industrial action.
However (and especially in the current set up of model week and flexing up) all of a sudden everybody refusing any overtime is industrial action.
And especially if the refusal is only temporary in the hope of gaining any sort of concessions
And especially if the refusal is coordinated.

Ever since I started at RM, the employees have been killing themselves and each other. It seems a majority of postal workers are dumb and refuse to serve their own interests, which is why they go out early so that they can get done on time (yes, on time), turning 4.5 hour deliveries into 5.5 hour deliveries. They don't use the things that are good for them - HCT walks in our office have drop points for bags which are neglected by at least half of the office. Which leaves the minority, who do everything properly, looking over their shoulder and fearing for their job because they can't get things done anywhere near as quickly. Hence, killing themselves and each other.

Royal Mail has never needed to point a gun at its employees to drive the fear of God into them. It certainly doesn't need to push people to the edge. It's just that the workforce is the same workforce as before, full of self-interested, stupid c***s. This was true pre-revision, it's true now, and its truth will only radiate more with the passage of time. I'm not saying there are no good 'uns at all, but the back-stabbing and all-round foolishness always seem to prevail no matter where I look.

Going on all this, it's really employees killing employees. We all know what needs to be done; but until you make people understand that Job And Finish is over, you're on a loser. We've got a massive revision coming, with the majority of the walks getting added to. You just know that the usual clowns are going to try and up the pace again, to get done early. We've had a few weeks to really make the point of how daft it is to make the walks bigger, but when you can't get people to even sign out, never mind work to time.

Use the trolleys try the neighbours and don't run, then the job won't kill you just don't take any cuts when on delivery and they can't say nothing,I had this idiot working with me last week as partner off and he carried two yes two bags on back and ran everywhere! And gets in 40 mins early everyday he actually fell over and cut leg badly yet still carried on running and helping me on every loop! In the end I told him to wait for me he didn't like this but I try neighbours he clearly didn't yet dom doesn't care because he saves him ot. Unless people like him are stopped nothing will change the union need to clamp down on this

From what you're saying - If you usually go over your time and decide you no longer want to, you can be conducted? I think your rep needs his arse handing to him.
Our office gets by on the goodwill, overtime needs and pressuring of staff. If any or everyone decided they didn't want OT anymore, I'm sure there's nothing the management could do.
