refusal to pay out genuine ot is deliberate withholding of wages
it is illegal to do this
ask rep to take it straight to et1

This is bad advice firstly as et1 is actually only the name of the claim form nothing else

Secondly and more importantly you need to go through acas now before filing an et1 claim form and when you call them they will ask if you have followed through the grievance process with Royal mail. So get your rep to start the process and ask him to help you lodge a grievance

Getting the Rep to take action is hardly bad advice.
Your DOM is banking the overtime, in effect taking money out of your pocket and placing it in his own via the bonus he receives. He is submitting fraudulent documents to RM and depriving HMRC of revenue.

If you read my post you will clearly see I said the bad advice was getting the rep to "take it straight to et1" that is incorrect t and wrong I advised to get the rep to help follow the correct procedures

Simple solution - if he isn't paying overtime, don't do any. Go back on your time, dump the leftovers on his desk and ask him what he would like you to do with it as you will not work for free and you don't have the confidence in him paying the ot.

Same stuff going on all the time at my office too. Have management been briefed to do this in the hope of saving money? Or are they just hopeless at their jobs?

ive heard its happening at a lot of offices, and to be quite honest, I don't think emailing Moya Greene will make one iota of difference. IMO she couldn't give a monkeys. as previously mentioned, if he won't pay it don't do it. they'll learn.

Why are you finishing early on Tuesday? If you are why are you complaining about having the same amount taken off your overtime rest of week? So you get paid 39 hrs and want a flyer on light days and paid overtime the day after? Think if you were paying the wages you'd be pissed off at that. Play the game fair mate and stop whinging. Surley if you're early on Tuesday put rest of weeks d2d together so when it's busy mid week at least that'll be one job less to do. We all benefit now with shares, to not waste money.

That's one way of looking at it, and nothing wrong with that, but try seeing it from another angle:

There are many people who can't or won't work past their official finish time. Nothing wrong with that, either. Why should they be pressurised just because the manager can't manage?

If the "light day" deficit is less than the "heavy day" O/T claim and he still crosses out the extra, then it's both fraudulent and illegal.
I can't believe how badly some of you let these excuses for managers treat you.
This sort of sharp practice was illegal a hundred years ago, so time to grow a pair.

It's only fraudulent and illegal if the correct over running deliveries procedure is followed, the problem is up and down the country it's not followed and posties think it's ok just to put down on the ot sheet what they have gone over without clearing it with the dom first of all, and as the postie has not followed the procedures in place they have no leg to stand on if a dom takes time off the ot, in fact there was a court case recently where the ruling stated it was perfectly legal to not pay overtime unless it was authorised prior to the work taking place
