UPDATE - OF A SORTS

When the PEC met last week they rejected Royal Mails 'final' offer. This is the offer that has been flashed around all of our workplaces by Royal Mail.

Following this the PEC then listed the changes that had to be made for the agreement to be acceptable.

From what i can glean ALL of the changes were secured by Ward and the negotiators on Friday evening. On this basis the agreement should go through the PEC. Lets wait and see.

Later starts will be part of any deal and will be accepted by CWU HQ!!

What flexibilty has come in??

I turn up for work not knowing what duty i'm on - do i cover a f/t shift or a p/t shift? My contract is 32hrs.
Isn't that what flexibilty is all about or are my gaffers taking the P?

Either way, later starts and not knowing what you're doing are a joke - not even being doing it for a week - totally sucks.

Ps, how come, after 7 years in the job, i'm still floating? Newer entrants, of say, 2 -3 years or less, come in and keep a bloody duty. Something doesn't add up there, and it ain't just me in my office - there's guys there with over 10 years worth of floating. An office re-pick never appears to be on the horizon, and when it does, there's always some excuse.

You would/should of had one after SDD,what happened there?

Not attacking your rep or anything mate because its a hard job but it seems as if you have some real local issues as well as national ones!! If your reps is struggling get hold of the area rep/branch.

In truth, the rep isn't that interested. I'm surprised he managed to get all of us out, bar 3 or 4 [out 100-odd].

The DoM and rep have apparently discussed repicks for what seems like an enternity now.

It's strange. Seniority is still the practice in our office. The more senior, they get the pick of the best. However, it's the new entrants who are coming in and keeping the f***ing duties there assigned to.

Guys with perhaps 7 - 12 years service are floaters. Only a handful have kept duties.

It really is most annoying, considering, i think, a new start, should be a floater, and then "work their way up".

Anyway...i'm in tomorrow and haven't a clue where i'll be, or what duty i'll be covering. Guess my office introduced flexi-times before Crozier and Leighton thought of the idea...bastards.........

What the union have said on later starts is if the mail is available in the office the the local rep can negotiate early/late starts. So if your office is near to a Mail Centre then your mail should get there earlier offering a better chance of early starts. The wording of any agreement will be very interesting!

Can you really see Royal Mail changing ALL start times back again???!!!

i`ve had it then ...our office is one of the furthest away from the mail centre

Sorry fella but you should have refused to do new times and filled out forms for family freindly hours. Whilst also filling out a grievence. I did and ive kept my hours ......so far anyway.

there is also a lot of support for later starts amongst the workforce. So it isnt the biggest issue as support is somewhat split.
