So customer nominates a neighbour but I don't trust that neighbour...who wins and how does this work with Uncle Bob'si line that it's still at our discretion?

It's annoying that Royal mail puts this across as being great for the recipient when all they want is less hours in the callers office.

We spend half a million quid on a brand new caller's office.

Its clean and furnished and looks very professional (minus perhaps a pretty blonde dolly bird on the front desk - no offence to anybody on here who works in callers office intended!). We have extended our callers office hours plus we even open on a Sunday.

And yet we are encouraging 'our' customers to leave parcels with neighbours??

Because of lapsed duties some of us forget which houses have opt outs on the door to doors never mind which parcels we should leave to neighbours. It will probably end up being a case of remember if you can to leave that parcel at that address.

As a rule DTN is now RM standard, try a couple if poss, job done.
Reps need to be on the ball with the B&H of this.

21st century and you can't even do it on the internet. more backwards thinking. Open the bloody callers office to a time people can actually collect they parcels 13:00 is pitiful. if it were open till 19/20 people could pick it up on the way home. I realise that was slightly off topic but it would solve lots of problems and all this 'new way of thinking' BS

Does RM or my DOM check that the neighbour is OK with being nominated ? Of course not.

Most of my Nominated are happy at first, then they realize it is day in day out. So many of the lazy B's who nominate don't bother to pick up from their neighbour and sit on their fat arses in front of the TV until the poor neighbour delivers it to them. Others wait until after 10pm before ringing the door bell. This is seriously pissing people off and we are taking the flack from all sides. Our union is letting us down on this issue. Our managers are now telling us the customer is the recipient not the stamp paying sender.

How about a different form at the EO:

"REGULAR INTERNET BUYER?
FED UP WITH DRIVING HERE AND QUEUEING TO RETRIEVE YOUR PARCEL?
THE TIME AND EXPENSE IN PETROL?
THE INCONVENIENCE?
WELL TRY BEING IN FOR A START! - BUT IF THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE THEN HELP YOURSELF!

YOUR LOCAL HOME SUPPLIES STORE HAS 100-LITRE SECURE PARCEL BINS FOR £25
SLEEK-LOOKING AND SIMPLE TO FIT TO ANY WALL OR HARD FLOORING - SIMPLY LEAVE UNLATCHED AND HAVE YOUR PARCEL DEPOSITED THERE, WHEREUPON YOUR DELIVERY PERSON WILL SIMPLY CLICK IT LOCKED!!

YES, YOU MAY GET ITEMS NEEDING A SIGNATURE OR ANOTHER DELIVERY FIRM CLICKS IT SHUT FIRST, BUT YOU'LL SAVE £££'S IN PETROL AND TIME MOST OF THE TIME!

NO NEED TO HASSLE YOUR NEIGHBOURS WHO ARE PROBABLY TOO POLITE TO TELL YOU HOW PISSED-OFF THEY ARE BEING DISTURBED DAILY BY DELIVERIES FOR YOU!!

SIGN HERE TO SAY YOU'VE READ THIS NOTICE__________."

As a previous person stated all this is fine until we are knocking everyday asking. I have had swear words directed at me. "Sorry mate, they are taking the f****** p***, ever since they moved in, all we get every b***** day is people knocking on our door for them. B****** we aren't taking them." If only they took the time and effort to request a sticker from RM to put on their letter box I would never have bothered them.

If you have someone with lots of packets, are you taking them all to neighbours or just the tracked ones?

There are a couple of serial buyers on my walk who are never in and I only try and get neighbours for the tracked packets as I know if I go with all packets they will eventually knock them all back and will be left with the bigger hassle of returning tracked packets.

I give them the lot, no point leaving them a card saying there is one with a neighbour but you have to come and collect the rest is there? If they refuse they refuse to take them they refuse. I have just taken a parcel in for my neighbour despite an opt out sticker on the letterbox.
