Yeah, sorry if I was being flippant but it's a pretty staightforward system I use. At the start of the duty I have a tray inside the side door which only has specials and box keys in it, by the end of the day it only has collected letters and box keys in it.

My main point is the vans,they're horrible
Not enough room for stuff to be put in neatly sometimes.
We do the same with a tray and the pouches and keys, but at Christmas and other peak times its an absolute made with stuff packed in the vans.
When I was driving I refused a couple of times to take the van out as I weighed everything and done the sums.
Add an unsecured box,ie slidey,and its the icing on a not nice cake.

When you are working out your service times for collections and collection on delivery, you need to add extra time for any collection points that are a distance from your van, also if there are any stairs or any other problems that will take longer than the suggested minutes that the managment are using.
Also you need to take in account the weight of the mail you are picking up, we have been told it is a maximum of 5 kilos up and down stairs so the number of sacks of mail and their weight needs to be taken in to account and the time increased for it.

So far we are only emptying low volume boxes as we pass them on our walks. We've been doing it on Saturdays for a while now, it only takes a minute or so, as long as the PDA is in a cooperative mood, but the time still needs to be accounted for, as it all adds up when they come to take hours out of the office
