This strike was always about Leighton's tipping point - the destruction of the union so that RM could be prepared for the rape and pillage of a full-scale privatisation with millions being paid to Leighton for preparing the way and no doubt a peerage for him from Bottler Brown.

Brown is scary - jeesuz I now wouldn't vote for him as a local rep, let alone PM, after watching him at PM QT last week. The bosses won't give in so we'll need to go back to work on their terms he told us. But we didn't, we stood firm and whatever the deal we end up getting it will be better than the one Brown told us to accept. Thank gawd there are still working class men and women prepared to defend their rights in this country. Joe Hill is alive in every mine and mill as well as in the ranks of CWU members. And let's not forget some non-CWU members who observed the strike on a point of principle and we'll never forget the strike breakers especially those who are CWU members and who should be drummed out of the union for conduct unbecoming a union member; for lack of moral fibre; and cowardice in the face of the class enemy.

I know bottler's no socialist but I had never ever realised he was so anti trade-unionist and we seriously need to look at the whole issue of the political levy after this strike is over because I reckon it should only go to MPs who supported us.

Well let's see what the deal is all about and we can then make decisions about acceptance/rejection. One thing for sure the exec should realise if it's a sh*t deal then we'll be straight back in the trenches and the CWU better not have any more legal slip-ups on calling strikes or we will be looking for heads to roll. This is the second time strikes have had to be cancelled because of faulty notification - happened in the summer as well - once is a mistake, twice is a scandal and thrice is either a sacking offence or a conspiracy.

The Way Forward came in because, delivery postman saw their pay rise from about £218 to £235 and didnt take into account the other strings, and delivery postman make up the larger section of the union, so have a larger vote. This current dispute directly affects the postmen, in pay, later start times and flexibility, flexibility is not really an issue within mail centres/distribution hubs because most work to their times, as they have timed despatches, and because the dispute has mainly focused on deliveries, thats where i believe this vote will determine whether it comes in or not.

The difference between now and when the way forward was voted on ( which in my opinion the phg's were shafted ) we are all one grade and recognise each others concerns better.

(1) Leighton & Crozier will be given their marching/crawling orders .. disguised with a massive pay-out .. worth every penny to get rid of the vermin! :lfo :cfo

If you believe that delivery posties understand the issues affecting mail centres or distribution hubs, or vice versa, then i personally believe you are wrong. Most mail centres are made up of part time workers, whose only concern is to earn some extra cash, their not in it for the long haul like many of us who are trying to protect our future and job security. And many ex-phgs still receive £20 a week, thats about £7k since the way forward came in.

Yes we all have the same concerns when it comes to pay, pensions and our terms and conditions because it affects both parties, but when it comes to flexibility this is in the main a delivery issue and many of the processing staff ive spoken to, dont see why posties dont work the full 40 hours like they normally do, and some see it is something deliveries have brought upon themselves for not doing the job properly in the first place.

So going back to the point i was making, the vote will be won or lost (whichever way you look at it) by deliveries.
