How can everybody now be on a so called level playing field when Royal Mails competitors have the right to high jack Royal Mails USA through Down Stream Access?
Everyday Royal Mail are dealing with more and more of it's so called competitors mail,
Even one of Allan Leighton's other Companies (Bskyb) send there mail through TNT down the down stream access route, How can Royal Mail survive when even the chairman uses an alternative to his own company?
In Royal Mail financial statement it was claimed that DSA made over £40m losses as apposed to £14m previously this was due to the amount of DSA mail almost doubling?
I urge postcomm to intervene and make sure Royal Mail is paid fairly for what is so called the The final mile, when in reality our competitors mail is delivered by Royal Mail, sorted by Royal Mail, processed on Royal Mails machinery and transported in Royal Mail vehicles (some final mile).
If Royal Mails competitors require access to DSA and the so called final mile it should be just that.
They should be made to deliver there mail to each and every delivery office each and EVERYDAY and be surcharged for any missorted bags/mail etc which then have to join the Royal Mail pipeline.
I am sure this would then be closer to a level playing field.

Re: reply from Mr Leighton! (yes i was shocked)
The reason they can offer it so cheaply is that we do the majority of the work. Their service, and that of all our competitors are entirely reliant on Royal Mail. Notice how tomorrow, the fictional postmen of DHL, TNT, Business Post, UK Mail.. et al, will be on strike too.the beautiful bd south wrote:Tnx for this..........we are lobbying regulator......and I have no say aboiut what sky do commercially......in fact I'm not allowed too!!!

P.S. Why all the typing errors Allan? Are you doing something to Crozier with one hand while trying to type with the other?

Thank you for your email of 3 October regarding your concerns over competition in the postal market and downstream access arrangements. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding.
By way of background, Postcomm was created by Parliament in November 2000 to maintain the universal service provision - the arrangement where letters and parcels are collected and delivered each working day to any part of the UK for the same price - and generally to promote customer interests, where appropriate by promoting competition in postal services.
Royal Mail is required to negotiate "access agreements" with any large mailer or rival licensed operator. However these are commercial agreements, negotiated independently of Postcomm. (Details of individual access agreements are available on Royal Mail's website.) If organisations are unable to agree with Royal Mail a fair price for access, we can to intervene to ensure that it is made available on appropriate terms. All access agreements so far have been independently negotiated by Royal Mail and the licensed operator.
I hope this information has been of some use.
Kind regards,

why is a fat balding ginger-haired man in his early 50's trying to be all trendy and with it by using text language ? also that reply is nonsense , so typical RM blame the staff , why not sack us all & get illegal immigrants in like his beloved Walmart did , or have staff unpaid and make them rely on tips . BT won't be able to deal with the volume of complaint calls . Re: reply from postcom
I was thinking the same thing myself. I wonder if he sits on a wall outside the chip shop at night with his mates wearing a hooped hoodie and listening to 50 Cent on his i-pod? The more I hear of this nugget, the more I think he's as nutty as a fruitcake.norbet colon wrote:why is a fat balding ginger-haired man in his early 50's trying to be all trendy and with it by using text language ?
