It sounds like you are a reserve. Different duties on different days. They are using you, unfortunately, you need the o/t to make a living.
What you need to ensure is that if, and we are now approaching bank holiday season, you are listed as off on a bank holiday you get this credited to your annual leave (you get a percentage of bank holidays being part time) as a day in lieu. You really need to speak to your rep as he'll know the workings of your office and you'll be able to explain your concerns better, openly in person to him. You should also get him to check if you are being paid the right amount of holiday pay based on your actual hours worked.
It goes against the grain, but go in early one day just to speak to him. Our office has a union office where you can leave messages for the rep, or ask one of your colleagues to pass on your request for a meeting with your rep. It could well be that your rep is unaware of your concerns and a quick five minute chat with him could solve most of your problems.

Re: Holiday pay - part time contract
Thanks for your help pinstripe. Was sounding today if we had a union rep and it seems we don't, no one seems to be interested in the union in our do, it's quite a small do with about 40 staff. Need to see if I can contact an area rep or would it be wise to ring cwu direct. Don't want to piss my boss off tho because as you say I need those extra hours to make a living.

If you are a CWU member you can contact your branch there are phone numbers and contact details on the http://www.cwu.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website. But if you are not a member then I am afraid you are best going to Citizens advice or an employment lawyer.Mgmrfc wrote:Thanks for your help pinstripe.
