I think the problems would be.

1) Where is the money coming from? I doubt that RM have authorised this so it has to either be coming from the manager's own pocket or has been diverted from elsewhere, If it's come from the manager that's highly unethical and if it's been diverted from a legitimate budget elsewhere that's most likely gross misconduct.

2) What is it encouraging? If it's solely based on the number of tracked items brought back with no checks and balances for QofS then it's incentivising and encouraging all kinds of bad practice that could lead to our members being dismissed.

It is highly likely if this little enterprise makes it upstairs that this idiot of a manager may be looking for employment elsewhere.

For that reason I give him a 10 on the dumb as a box of rocks scale, again the question goes out to any managers lurking....just WTF are you guys on?

in ours this week they've told us if we can't get an answer at the recipient then try a neighbour or two, and if we still don't get an answer, then DONT scan it and bring it back to office and someone will take it out later on overtime. !! they are that obsessed with delivery first time that they don't care what it costs,,,,just to get them done. its getting mental.

There is something going on. A postie asked today if they wanted overtime to take back out tracked items that had been 739'd to try with neighbours etc. wonder what would have happened if they'd come in with the 739 whilst the item was back out on a van.

Anyone else had this in their office?
You're taking the piss. Nationally, posties are being 'brainwashed ' into thinking that 1st time delivery is the way forward, WCM they think will save your job. They then feed the results to Amazon, Whistle etc. You then lose your job through EVR. All this with a lovely chance of obtaining £50. Do your job properly. There is NO incentive to do otherwise.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No he's not taking the piss, his manager probably is. He is just asking a question.

Next month - everyone who DOESN'T clear their Tracked packets gets their name put into a hat and the first name drawn out gets the sack.
