Pretty sure that isn't his call to make and let's be honest dingo it was an empty threat, as has been pointed out the review clause was negotiated by Dave in the first place, he'd look pretty damn silly going to the PEC and asking for a ballot because RM wanted to abide by it.

just to add thought thought there was a no strike deal under the agenda for growth deal which was well documented on this site

I'm also pretty sure as part of the same deal, Royal Mail couldn't implement changes that threatened jobs. It would seem Royal Mail has already smashed that to pieces.

Your VR payment is based on the last 26 weeks pensionable pay before your Last Day of Service (LDOS), if there is any pensionable pay increase in those last 26 weeks it will be included in your VR payment. If the figure changes after your VR payment offer is made, it will be reassessed about 8 weeks after your LDOS and any difference paid then.

also a bit off topic but how many weeks pay in lieu are royal mail offering? Finding it hard getting a straight answer at the moment.

RM was offering 13 weeks Pay in Lieu of Notice (PILON) but only for EVR/VRs that were processed before 25 March.

Fish Royal Mail did not think it was an empty threat and hence they decided not to activate the review clause.

There was never a no strike deal !!

The reality compared to other industries 2.8% is a good deal in todays climate !

If Dave Ward genuinely threatened the board with industrial action he's a bigger fool than I took him for, what exactly was the plan if they had told him to go for it.
I don't mind a bit of bluff but you have to be prepared to get called occasionally...he had nothing in his hand except an embarrassing climbdown.

Well we did, despite a poorly negotiated review clause, the truth is we got the pay rise because RM felt it was best for the company overall. We shouldn't pretend otherwise, It's dishonest and given the timing I suspect nothing more than a bit of electioneering.

Fish you could look at it another way we have got a deal well above the predicted inflation and the fact we have under Dave"s leadership as DGSP Royal Mail know that we are not scared to ballot the members.

To paint it as some kind of bad deal is poor. The CWU have delivered what the members voted for in the Agenda for Growth Ballot result.

Spedley you realy are living in a dream land ! The share holders have removed Brydon as chair because they are not making a return on investments they wanted quickly enough ! They will be putting in an harsher chair soon , they are putting pressure on the main shareholder the government to get rid of Moya Greene as she is alledgely too friendly with the CWU and she has agreed with the CWU restrictions such as no outsourcing and no franchising etc.

Over and above this The select committe has just released the report in which Ofcom have been hugely critical of Royal Mail for poor in effierncy and a pay rise above inflation deal.

At the same time as this is happening today's evening standard in London reports that inflation has reached zero Royal Mail announce that 2.8 has been agreed with the CWU know that share prices and shareholder will be very negative to this.

Yet someone can declare it has nothing to do with the CWU what a silly comment !

If the CWU did not exist or did not argue for the members does anyone believe this pay rise would have been given ? If they did you must be mad !

Something doesn't ring true here, one minute we're being told that the shareholders are getting pissed and piling on the pressure because the board are too soft, the next we're being told that big bad Dave threatened the board with industrial action and they folded like a broken deck chair.
It makes not a lot of sense to me.
