Hi you could always tell your DIM to put his instructions in writing :Very Happy
we all know how thick they are that our DIM's might be dull enough to do it

Our DOM has tried that tactic before of asking posties if they will leave some mech mail behind for the next day so that they could take out their lapsing instead

Most posties would rather take the mail that they have on their own duty first. If they leave the mail behind on their round for another day, doesn't that mean that it is going to be even busier the following day??

If we want to,cut off, we inform the manager, who then tells us to do the lapsing first. To which the rep just shrugs his shoulders and says ,do as they ask. Mind you,we end up doing it the next day anyway,so why bother?

If you have to cut off by taking lapsing, then you shouldn't be lapsing, some of your reps are knobs.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've been rep for two weeks now, and come to realise it's a bit like working with the worst postie in the office, loads of missorts, packets in the wrong bags, bags chucked into the van willy-nilly (we'll sort it out when we get there), and does the least amount of work it's possible to get away with

No. In my opinion that is wilful delay.

All mail that arrives in a delivery office is due for delivery that day. Mail centres stream the mail in this way including mailsort.

Any mail not delivered has to be input in the Delivery Office Daily Report (DODR) stating why it has not been delivered ( timed delivery and customer does not want a further delivery that day) or even delivered late (overtime).

Be careful. You will not be backed up by management for leaving items behind.
